Anagrand 1/72 Martin XB-51/Gilbert XF-120 finished
belugawhaleman replied to JohnB's topic in Non LSM 'WIP
Looks amazing, John! -
Playing around with the digital Elikliv microscope that I mentioned in my Last post.....some images taken from it. They are close ups of parts from the Tamiya Sheridan kit and a nut from one of Meng's nut & bolts set. I didn't notice before, but the Sheridan's track pads have worn rubber effect Detail. And yes, I know the date stamp is wrong!

Some items today...... First; the kit that I mentioned in my last post...From IBG their Panzerkampfwaken TKS (p) #35047. This is the Polish tankette TKS in German service. This thing is tiny.....I mean really tiny! It has link & length tracks with the individual links being nearly microscopic. I think it will be a test of patience to build the tracks..daunting! IBG makes a simplified version of the TKS with the tracks molded in one piece but that's not for me. Next is a kit that I purchased after a discussion with my mom. she told me that her brother Roy aka "Bud" Wilkinson was stationed in England during WW 2 as a radio operator aboard bombers....I guess B 17s. Later, during the Korean war he would serve in the same role in B 29s and refueling aircraft ( B 50s ?) Anyway, I'll get back to the point. She told me that He brought back from England a scooter that was " carried on the bombers" and that it was fun to ride. I assumed it was the little Cushman scooter that the U.S. made for this purpose and I showed her a picture of that. She said, that wasn't it. Then I thought of the Welbike that the British made, ..showed her that, and she said it was that one....Cool! So I found that HLJ had one. Made by Dragon in 1/6 scale...ordered it. Got it in 2 days. The kit is ok, but is lacking decals and the engine makers Logo that was cast on engine crankcase.... Too bad. Otherwise, I think it will fun build considering our family connection to this bike. Next ; is a non-modelling related purchase. From ELIKLIV is their Digital Microscope Model: EDM4S. I bought it for use with coin collecting in mind... but, Ive been playing with this thing for a couple of days. It's fun....and yes, I did confirm that I needed a new needle for one of my airbrushes. Already ordered a replacement needle. The microscope has a 4.3 inch screen and the ability to take pictures and videos. .....I must say the instructions are pretty bad, leaving the user to find out the meaning of some terms used via Internet searches. Anyway it wasn't that costly....about $50.00 ....less than most model kits these days.

Sheridan tank in the Desert Storm, pictures needed
belugawhaleman replied to Martinnfb's topic in ARMOR
Yes, I was looking RFM kit the other day and realized that changing the Tamiya kit would be a bit silly now. I'll build the Tamiya kit as is for now. The Tamiya kit is pretty good BTW. -
Happy birthday!

Well, probably coming to an end of my buying spree for awhile. Just 2 kits to post today.......one more kit to come later this week and then I'll hold off and start building what I've got....that is, until.... some special Kit comes along. Well, anyway, here's what I got today: First, from Tamiya comes their M551 Sheridan Vietnam War (35365) Looks good. Second, from Miniart comes their; D8506 Mod. 1937 German Tractor in 1/24 scale a bigger scale version of their Lanz Buldog tractors. This one has The tires , I purchased their Steel wheeled version earlier. These are great kits and the larger scale makes them, in my view, more appealing than the 1/35 versions. Anyway, I've got kit coming from IBG later this week of a kind of a cool little subject I may put a post up of that when it comes.

Sheridan tank in the Desert Storm, pictures needed

Saw some decal offerings for the Sheridan at Sprue Brothers. I'm not sure what changes would be needed to update the Tamiya kit to the era of the decals, but; https://spruebrothers.com/ech356272-1-35-echelon-3-73-aar-m551a1-sheridan-ttss-in-operation-desert-storm/ https://spruebrothers.com/ech356270-1-35-echelon-m551a1-sheridan-ttss-in-operation-just-cause-uphold-democracy-desert-shield/ https://spruebrothers.com/search-results-page?q=Sheridan https://spruebrothers.com/defdm35088-1-35-def-model-us-m551-sheridan-tank-late-152mm-metal-gun-barrel-set-tam-kit/ -
Happy Birthday Captain Pete Fleischmann

A little late, perhaps, but A Happy Birthday Pete! -
I miss the days when I could go to my LHS, Venture hobbies, in Wheeling, Illinois....now, sadly, long gone. Do any of our members remember this place? Anyway, I'm interested in this kit. I attempted to build the old Monogram kit years ago...encountering huge fit issues. A new-tool kit of this kit is highly tempting.... Although I've got more kits right now than is reasonable to own. I just purchased a Miniart kit because Sprue Brothers has a sale right now.....it turned out it was the last one they had! Anyway, this kit...and their Dauntless, are two Trumpy kits on my buy list.

Sorry to hear about your wrist problems. For me lately its been a bad shoulder I see a cortisone injection in my near future. I hope you heal up soon. Anyway, Gary, your model looks great as do your figures. -
Had a nice day today.....shopping with Mom and more. Because of her vision loss she can't drive any longer...so, I've been helping her with that. Among our stops..Hobby Lobby, where I was able to pick up some items. A set of POSCA paint markers in various metallic colors and a spray can of Mr. Surfacer 1000. After that we visited a Hobby Shop near the restaurant we were going to.....we had never seen it open before..decided to go in. Well, it was like entering a cavern; very dark and disorganized but I did pick up a model and a couple of bottles of paint. The model is an older Tamiya release (1992) their; U.S. MARINE AAVP7A1 W/UGWS (35159). After that we had a late lunch. It was nice to go to an actual hobby shop for a change and not ordering online while sitting on my couch in front of the TV. The kit is older, but looks OK BTW.

Some items this week..... Coming from Sprue Brothers a set of Decals from Star Decals. Their 35-C 1316 PzKpfw I in Africa in 1/35 for my Takom panzer 1a. Coming from Amazon, but surprisingly, sent from the Channel island of Jersey... is a wood grain stencil in photo-etch by Artesnia Latina for 1/16 scale (27322). It looks pretty good. Another wood grain photo-etch set, this time in 1/35 scale and made by TETRA MODEL WORKS (TET-TA-00021). This is a set of four stencils.

I built a rc Gee bee racer by Kyosho many years ago....never flew it. Its identical in markings to your 1/48 kit. Still have it in storage at my mothers home.....Ill dig it out and share a picture. That tanker is cool.. ..reminds me of the Oscar Mayer hot dog car....without the bun.

Stunning detail......enjoying this thread!
