Yes children, ANOTHER Corsair!!!
JohnB replied to JohnB's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
Thanks Harv! The final step after painting and decaling is a overspray of clear semi-gloss since the "real deal" it's modeled after is fairly glossy. -

Yes indeed Hubert. That was a terrible u/c design on the Buffalo. -
Home stretch in sight Peter!

I don't think we'll see many, if any, Brewster Corsair builds. Another something out of the usual. -

Making more progress with painting underway. This is the a/c I'm planning. It's a F3A-1 Corsair built by Brewster. Unfortunately Brewster didn't do too well building the Corsair with many management problems. I think this is the only one still around. -
Looking good!

Well done Gaz! Sure is purty. Foiling isn't my cup of tea but you've done a great job of it! Very nice work.

I too am a fan of the Quinta stuff. Looks great, easy to use!

On second thought I used the Grand Phoenix cockpit set and not Aires. Laps in memory! LOL -

Hi Troy, The -4 Corsair kit is not too bad but needs some "improvement" by replacing the cockpit with a after market one. I used Aires. The prop needs replacing and one from a Hasegawa P-47 fills that bill well (thanks for the tip on that Martin). The wing fold setup, in my opinion, is a joke and very toy like. I replaced those with some left over parts from a Tamiya kit. I recommend you check out my recent WIP on their -4 which should give you some idea as to what to expect, etc. I built their -1D way before Tamiya brought out theirs and it took a lot of work to get "right". I don't remember all the specifics but the cowl flaps, prop, wing fold setup were pretty bad. Here's a link for the -4 build which should give you some info, etc. https://forum.largescalemodeller.com/topic/17257-trumpeter-f4u-4-from-sod/ In short Troy, their Corsair kits aren't nearly as good as Tamiya's. I hope this is some help for you. (I might take one of your -4 kits off your hands if you want to unload it. Since it's the only -4 out there in 1/32 I MIGHT want to build another one at some point.) Well done! Good luck! -
I just thought this would be a good time to do this. Maybe a bit late since the fire and all but better late than never. My only completed Fisher build is the Sea Fury which I modeled as the one I saw at a airshow in Alton, IL YEARS ago. It was owned at the time by Ormond Hayden Bailey who was killed in a P-51 crash a few years later. A enjoyable kit to build!
