  1. Just getting started on this one. It will be one of E.D. Weiner's racers. I've removed the fuselage fuel tank and added a "floor" piece plus I've removed some of the side wall areas that were likely removed from the real a/c (in my estimation LOL) and added fuselage stringers that would then be visible. I think the yellow/black color scheme will be very eye-catching!
  2. Many thanks Frank! I'm happy you like it. It's now a favorite of mine! LOL I'm just getting started on the yellow/black racer Bardahl Miss #49 so will post some WIP photos shortly.
  3. I wasn't able to get a account due to some problem with the "captcha" I entered whatever that is. No clue. Thanks anyway Gaz!!!
  4. I'm gonna add a comment here: This build has turned out to be one that I really like. Gotta be one of my most favorite! Now I'm going to do another P-51 racer and who knows what else. LOL
  5. Thank you Ron! I appreciate that. Thanks again.
  6. Thanks! Very much appreciate the nice comments. I do plan another P-51 racer in the near future and maybe other racing a/c to follow. A great change of pace.
  7. I'm in need of some Floquil thinner/brush cleaner or Dio-Sol. Can't find any on ebay, etc. Would any of you have a bottle you'd sell me?
  8. Thanks Kai!!! I have 'em sitting in and on display cases and shelves! I'll have to do something soon to make some room for more builds! (I have 6 display cases and they are all FULL! LOL )
  9. Thanks Gaz!!! I'm glad you like it. Yes, I have more completed models than I have room for! Guess I'll have to box some of them up to clear a bit of room!
  10. Thank you Peter. I appreciate the nice comments and look forward to seeing your completed build!
  11. Thanks Tony. I'm glad you like it. I really enjoyed the build! More racers in future! I'm seriously considering this one for my next racer. I would like to find someone who makes racer wing tips and other mods but haven't had any luck so far.
  12. All done with this one. I used the Revell kit of the early -5 Mustang without the tail fillet. As the real a/c has the fillet I had to find a way to add that. Luckily I had several left over Tamiya tail sections with the fillet and they fit very well with the minimum of work. The drop tanks and prop are from my spares stash. I built the drop tank racks with parts from my stash of "stuff". LOL The canopy, exhausts, and seat (Tamiya) are from my extensive stash of unused parts. Seat belts are FineMolds and the pitot tube is a straight pin! LOL The wheels are from Barracuda resin. I removed the fuselage fuel tank as the racer did not have it. I painted it with several coats of MM flat white as a primer then hit it with several coats of gloss white. The interior, cockpit and wheel wells were painted with MM Lt. Gull Gray. Decals are from Draw Decals. I really enjoyed this build and found it hard to put down at times! This build was inspired by another build by Tony (TJTX). I hope y'all like the results of my efforts. (I think there will be more P-51 racers in the future!) Click on the 1st photo for best resolution and to view as a slide show. 😉
  13. They are very nice decals. Very thin. You have to be very careful applying them. At one point I was afraid I'd screwed the pooch on the big "Bardahl Special" on the nose but was able to sort it out okay. 🤪 Now that the exhaust stains are applied I can proceed with adding the other bits and pieces.
  14. Here it is as of right now, before exhaust stains.
  15. LOL Peter! No way! I seriously doubt that! 😄
  16. Yep, nice and smooth Gaz. Decals are now on so now it's time to add the exhaust stains.
  17. Just about ready to start decaling. The prop and canopy are just set in place for the pic and not yet attached. Remember to click on the pic for best resolution.
  18. Thanks Jeroen! I plan to get the exhaust stacks and wheel wells painted then see about applying some decals today.
  19. LOL Carl. Just take your time and don't rush it (and have a good primer too). This paint job DID have it's moments though..... Right now I'm letting the model sit under a light so it will stay warm and get dry. I keep wanting to pick it up and do some other work on it but have to stop myself!!! LOL Tomorrow!
