  1. Thanks Peter. It's some of both. During the war paint suppliers had different interpretations of what certain colors should look like plus there might be several different suppliers. It also depended on what they had available to work with. And there would be several different "companies" supplying a/c components which would lead to even more diversity, etc. About the same rule applies to model paint makers today although I don't think the supplies are as difficult to come by plus references are much more available, etc.
  2. At the painting stage! As some of you know RLM 84 has several variations of which I have posted three versions. I chose to use the #3 version of the paint "chips" which is a old AeroMaster color. RLM 75 also has more than one version. For the under wings I chose to use version #1 from the paint "chips" which is White Ensign. For the upper wings I used version #2 which is another old AeroMaster color. I'll post a photo of the top sides when I've finished painting them.
  3. Hasegawa 1/32 kits are very nice with great detail. Fit is, for the most part, very good. Recommended.
  4. I've decided to change subjects. Since I built a D-9 in 2013 of the same unit (JG 26) with similar markings I think I'll do this a/c instead. Same unit but different markings, etc. Those are original Luftwaffe boots. I have another pair I'd sell. PM me if interested.
  5. Yes, it's a re-boxing of the Hasegawa kit.
  6. Got a good start on this one. I used the cockpit set that was on the A-7 as it was all done and fit just fine etc. Might be a little inaccurate for a D-9 but I DON'T CARE!
  7. NOT a fun thing!!!I hope all will be well soon!!!
  8. I feel like it will be a nice looking model Peter. I like that "Brown 18".
  9. Some updated info on the color scheme. Also, this is a Revell kit which uses the Hasegawa molds.
  10. Unfortunately YES. 😠 He and I had some "disagreements" which was a contributing factor to my leaving there. I hate to say it but the decals are very good. Can't say the same about that guy.
  11. Hopefully you won't have that problem when you build yours Gaz. I hated to bin it but, as Peter says, life is too short, etc. 🤪
  12. I figure the Dora will have the same problem but, as they say, fore warned is fore armed. I built a Dora a while back but I don't remember having that problem (but I've slept since then! LOL).
  13. Since the 190A-7/8 build has crashed and burned I plan to build a companion kit, the 190D-9. Most of the parts are interchangeable so I haven't lost a good bit of the work done on the A. This is the one I plan on doing. A very good reference and I have the decals and paint colors on hand.
  14. It was just the wings to fuselage join Gaz. I had attached the upper wings to the lower wing section before attempting to attach the whole shebang to the fuselage. That is where the problems arose. It might work better by attaching the underwing section to the fuselage first before attaching the uppers. Just a guess but, if you build one, give it a try using tape to hold things in place. 🙄
  15. I hate to say it but this one has gone to the bin. 🤪Way too many headaches attaching the wings so just decided to say to heck with it. Not worth the time and trouble, etc. SO......I have a Hasegawa D-9 I can use a lot of the D-7/8 parts on plus beaucoup D-9 decals so that's what I plan to do. Fingers crossed I won't have the same wing/fuselage attachment headache! Stay tuned for a D-9 build thread!
  16. And waiting and waiting! I too have the old Revell kit that I built years ago. Somewhere around here! 🙄
  17. A couple of months would sound like a workable plan. If no one has "bit" then why keep 'em any longer.
  18. Looking really good Peter! The wings look like they are "just right". I had good luck on my build as the wings fit without and hassles.
  19. 🤪 I like to keep SOMETHING on the bench to stay busy with.
  20. LOL Gaz. A little out of my usual builds I guess plus I just ordered a Hasegawa Ki-43 Oscar from SB so THAT one is definitely out of my usual builds. The 190 kit is a A-8 actually but with a couple of small "adjustments" it'll be a A-7.
  21. LOL Kevin. I've had the 190 and the TD set for a good while. About time for me to build it!
