Thanks Chris, right with you for sure. Working on my next update for this weekend as I'm closing in on priming and the paint shop.

John Holy Cow, awesome looking front office and just the perfect touch of weathering for my taste!

Rob I'm front and center and waiting for the first of the painting updates -
John Thanks for the info - nice to know. Hope we'll find more of this quality of seat belt set on their frets.

Paul, Very much appreciated. If you want an exception P-38 in your collection and a build with zero vices, loads of details and packed full of enjoyment, Tamiya's offering is the way to go. Absolutely agree and I've been on the band wagon for years: Tamiya kits are well engineered, nearly perfect instructions, build and fit as intended, are absolutely not shake and bake, fall together kits - they are how a model kit should be. Just empty the contents onto to the bench, take a nap and when you come back, the pile of parts and frets will still be there. When completed and on the shelf, the builder will admire their skills and abilities as with any kit just a lot less aggravation to get there. All the modeling skills are needed and used, what is not needed is hours of head banging trying to correct the errors and non-precision fit and parts of a kit. Each of us derives satisfaction from different means, different types of kits and builds and that's how it should be. No question, Tamiya for me, is the bar that all manufactures should emulate.

Thanks Kev Much appreciated. Just a terrific kit and what a mojo builder.

Phil Great idea on making a base plate for the IP just in case. I should do just the same as it really makes a lot of sense. -
John Great choice for your next Corsair build - decals and markings look mighty interesting. I'm just the opposite and remove move all the parts needed for each step and then paint them. Your method sure seems a lot faster and a lot less repetitious. Nice start on the seat and the belts look good. Did you anneal them to make them more bendable?

Paul I have seen reviews of the newer sets with power on/power off displays and they look great. I wish Red Fox would include seatbelt and harnesses as Quinta does, a big savings in total cost. Not saying Quinta's seatbelts are the equal of let's say HGW, but for me, they are fine and I always use them. -
Phil Thank you. The gear bays are OOB and went together perfectly. All I did was follow the assembly sequence in the instructions and as always, label each part, so not confuse left and right boom parts as I painted everything prior to assembly. Just a dream to build to this point.

Rob, much appreciated. The kit is amazing, the details and fit have to be the bar other companies should strive to achieve, given the cost of everything these days. Tamiya is the way to go.

Rob Amazing work on the front office and glass. I'm sure ZM's version will be state of the art and well detailed but with all their kits, the over engineering and countless hidden parts has soured me on further purchases - as I still need to finish the 109 and Skyraider. -
Oliver The amount of work you have done really shines in these photos. Sure hope you will find he books needed and then crank up the old air brush.

Ernie PE and AirScale gauges are an awesome combination. The Vals panel might be a bit plain and none of the latest goodies but when it comes to plain jane and needle, ball and airspeed; the J3 panel is King of the Hill. I spent many hours behind J3 panels and most of the time the old eyeballs are looking outside with only a quick scan squeezed in. Online Flying Magazine Photograph

Thanks Gaz Much appreciated and absolutely agree, awesome kit and wonderfully detailed.

Thanks Chris Glad to see you're on board for the journey. The Tamiya P-38 was exactly what I needed to get the juices flowing and eager to work at the bench. The kit details and part fit are amazing, and no guess work needed to determine where and how parts fit. Thank you for the compliments on the front office and the Quinta Decals. I've been using them since they first appeared and they are my detail set of choice if available for any build. And of course, thank you for the offer of P-38 detail photos if needed.

Thanks Carl I was knocked out after I finished the gear bays at the level of detail and part fit was typically superb Tamiya. You're so right, when Tamiya tackles an engineering problem such as the tail booms, they come up with innovated solutions that solves the problem, without having to jump through hoops.

Thanks Paul Making progress nearly every day, the mojo is back and always looking forward to bench time again.
-
John Absolutely - detailed and engineered correctly.
-
Much appreciated John I was amazed at the level of decal in the wheel wells and everything actually fit as it was designed too; now how about that!
-
Thanks Martin, that it is.

KOTARE Spitfire Mk.1a

Martin Awesome build and terrific finish. For me, I'm glad the Spit has no engine as it just complicates the build - besides, I have three Tamiya Spits in the display case all with their engine covers off and the Merlines looking good. -
Mark Holy smokes - looks fantastic. Can wait to see her painted and finished. Nice to see a not so common subject.
