  1. Oliver Just remarkable. Hopefully at some point you will have discovered all the hidden details needed for the diorama and then off to the paint shop. How did you meeting go with the Armor builders on painting secrets?
  2. John Stellar build - For me the weathering is spot on and looks so good. And of course, flawless workmanship.
  3. MAIN GEAR WELLS & TAIL BOOMS AND MORE PROGRESS Just what the modeling doctor ordered for rejuvenating my beforehand floundering mojo. Main Gear Wheel Wells and Gear Doors. The detailing is unreal. I lost count on how many parts each main gear wheel well contained but was blown away by Tamiya’s precision and engineering. Very thin and what seemed like delicate parts, none broke or cracked removing them from the sprues and cleaning up the sprue nubs. They fit like a glove and when installed, following the build sequence in the instructions, zero issues at all. Everything fit exactly as it should. All the gear doors are comprised of two main parts; inside and outside and wonderfully detailed. The wheel wells and gear doors were primed with MRP Black Primer and the metal finish is Tamiya Gloss Aluminum Lacquer LP70, thinned 70:30 thinner to paint Tail booms The tail booms’ radiator and oil cooler assemblies were airbrushed and then glued into place; fit was spot on. The four small radiators are decals and work well seeing as they are buried and the effect is just fine. Front oil coolers were painted Titanium Gold, followed up with a Black Panel Wash, little can be seen but it’s there. All fit like a glove and so far, zero issues. Care needs to be exercised as the gear door actuators are fully exposed and easily broken. While the part fit is exceptional, some Mr Surfacer will be needed as there are a few gaps that need attention.
  4. Rob Brilliant work and the masking - first class all the way. My money is riding on you and the work will be perfect.
  5. Thanks Hubert I'll be ordering when the kit is ready to ship. I'm still going cartwheels over the Sea Fury and for me, it's a clear the bench kit.
  6. The nose decals look spot on and as colorful and interesting as you get. Looking mighty good
  7. Martin WOW, the Hornet looks fantastic. Any possibility of a build thread in the near future?
  8. Hubert Don't think there is much of a chance we will ever see them in 32nd scale but I'm hoping as you.
  9. Rob Should work well. I always use Micro Kystal Klear (PVA Glue) and it has never let me down.
  10. Phil Perfect - going to look awesome. I should have known, spoke too soon.
  11. Collin Welcome aboard - Awesome B-25 and food for thought, down the road.
  12. Phil Some mighty nice progress and yes, the seatbelts and harness will test your nerve - but you have conquered and they look so good. May I just suggest bend them a bit more, so they will drape a bit more naturally. When it comes to the harnesses, I'm the last one that should be offering any suggestions as I'm not very creative with them and more then happy when they are glued in place.
  13. Rob Fingers crossed the glue test comes out perfectly and go with the story for the FUG posts - way too much awesome work not to finish on such a small error.
  14. For me, the only remaining 32nd scale kit I'm looking to purchase is the TBD Devastator. I have been adding a number of 48th scale WWII subjects to the stash and will continue to do so, especially if I find them at a bargain price. This years purchases so far: ZM 109 ZM Skyraider Tamiya 1/48 P-51B with Aires resin sets Kotare Spifire Takom AH-64E Apache Revell Hurricane
  15. Rog Thats some haul and you will certainly be busy for many months with just this one shipment. Enjoy.
  16. Neil Thank you for the link. I did see a few new kits that I didn't know were being released this year, with one being a Beech H18 in 1/48th scale, nothing more classic except a Staggerwing.
  17. Kev Even 1500 - could be a bit to course - just test before using. The more I think about it one other factor is the degree of texture of the finish and what you are polishing out. When I'm in doubt, starting at 3000 is a good safety net just to see how the finish does react to the wet and dry.
