  1. Mark Much appreciated. I started test fitting and cleaning up the parts today and the detail is amazing. Molded into the wing is the manufacturing data: Monogram, 1967. The kit has been reissued a load of times and mine was molded in 1993, with updated decals and some PE. Going to be a fun build for sure.
  2. Thanks Mark If I remember correctly, I built one in 1971 (model is long gone).
  3. Well, the official start date is here and I'm finally able to start the Kingfisher, which I've had for quite some time. Just a few opening pics and I'm off and running. The Official Day and Time photograph
  4. Mark Glad to see you doing this kit. I've never seen it as a build thread. Will be following start to finish
  5. Kev Nice choice for the GB and will be following all the way.
  6. Phil Going to be a terrific GB project and will be following with great interest.
  7. John Looking good and some mighty nice work in the wheel wells
  8. Ernie Looking mighty good and I'm with Scott - you have achieved the art of natural weathering. 😉
  9. A very Happy and Healthy New Year to our LSM family across the globe.
  10. Happy New Year to the entire LSM Family - may it a be a happy and healthy year.
  11. John Might have a chance if I switch to a different type of build:
  12. Gaz Some amazing modeling for last yea r- all beautifully done and just love those dioramas
  13. I'm in with the venerable Monogram 1/48 Kingfisher. Should be a fun build as I love these older kits. With a bit of luck, I'm even going to try and use the kit decals.
  14. Ernie Thanks for the memories and flying lesson. I close my eyes and I'm back flying taildraggers. First phrase I ever learned that actually stuck in my head: Lazy Feet. Groungloops: there's another word drilled into your heard.
  15. Rob & John Even a Yank can be honest and I just love the Tamiya Mossie. I just feel Papa Tamiya pulled the plug on 32nd scale as being too expensive, too many parts and too detailed - comparing it to kits today, she he right in the ballpark and still has the one best thing going for it: it's Tamiya.
  16. Mark The foil does look mighty good and not a wrinkle in sight
  17. Rob Surely sounds as you have had your hands full of repairs and fixes - a lot to deal with. It must be so assuring knowing you have the analytical reasoning to think through these issues, find the cause(s) and then the skills to repair them; I only wish I did but don't. I've learned a long time ago, that it's better to call in qualified help and have the work done correctly and as quickly as possible - I'm a great starter but a poor finisher. Up until a few years before Covid for many years, I worked in season, six days a week and never had the time and more importantly the ability and desire to fix more then simply repairs. I know the situation is so different as you live on a small island that present its own logistical problems. On the other hand, I live on a huge island; Long Island. The island is divided into two counties and two borrows: the western two borrows of Queens and Brooklyn are part of New York City and have a population of around 4.8 million people. The two eastern counties are Nassau and Suffolk and have a population of about 2.9 million and I live in the eastern most county of Suffolk. Our situation is the opposite of yours: everything and anything is available, but it costs a lot more. Happy New Year
  18. Shasa Looking forward to following - terrific choice. Did a bit of research on the kit and it is a new design and new kit. he instructions show quite a bit of details are included.
  19. Chris Great start on for me both the 'golden age of plastic modeling' and you just can't say enough about that era of aviation. A huge fan of Mr Macs aircraft and the Voodoo, awesome: Big, powerful and looked like a Mac Truck with wings (That's a compliment). Of all the Voodoos, the two-seat version is my favorite. Nice work on the front office, painting the details. For its time, the ejection seats do look very detailed and under your steady hand, will surely pop. Too bad Quinta hasn't discovered model kits from this era - now wouldn't this be something. Raised panel lines don't bother me a bit and are surely in my modeling DNA. Will be closely following
  20. Kriss Nice progress and looking forward to seeing how the mask set works out.
  21. Oliver Brilliant detailing and tremendous work. The photo with the kit tail rotor does show how bland and barebones it was out of the box. And after you worked your magic, adding the details -OMG - incredible. The term "Night and Day" doesn't even come close. a
  22. John As always, fantastic and super-fast progress. Looking might good.
  23. Gaz Pretty darn tight and at least you can see both side walls with all the details. I'm sure, pilots needed to be on the 'slim' side, as slightly hefty pilots would feel just beyond snug.
  24. Rob How did you make out with the electrician and the short circuit in the circuit breaker box? Fingers grossed it was a quick and inexpensive repair.
