Rob Literally a boatload of gorgeous AM. -
I'm in with the venerable Monogram 1/48 Kingfisher. Should be a fun build as I love these older kits. With a bit of luck, I'm even going to try and use the kit decals.

Ernie Thanks for the memories and flying lesson. I close my eyes and I'm back flying taildraggers. First phrase I ever learned that actually stuck in my head: Lazy Feet. Groungloops: there's another word drilled into your heard.

F4U-1A Corsair Tamiya 1/32
Peterpools replied to DocRob's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
Rob & John Even a Yank can be honest and I just love the Tamiya Mossie. I just feel Papa Tamiya pulled the plug on 32nd scale as being too expensive, too many parts and too detailed - comparing it to kits today, she he right in the ballpark and still has the one best thing going for it: it's Tamiya. -

F4U-1A Corsair Tamiya 1/32
Peterpools replied to DocRob's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
Rob Surely sounds as you have had your hands full of repairs and fixes - a lot to deal with. It must be so assuring knowing you have the analytical reasoning to think through these issues, find the cause(s) and then the skills to repair them; I only wish I did but don't. I've learned a long time ago, that it's better to call in qualified help and have the work done correctly and as quickly as possible - I'm a great starter but a poor finisher. Up until a few years before Covid for many years, I worked in season, six days a week and never had the time and more importantly the ability and desire to fix more then simply repairs. I know the situation is so different as you live on a small island that present its own logistical problems. On the other hand, I live on a huge island; Long Island. The island is divided into two counties and two borrows: the western two borrows of Queens and Brooklyn are part of New York City and have a population of around 4.8 million people. The two eastern counties are Nassau and Suffolk and have a population of about 2.9 million and I live in the eastern most county of Suffolk. Our situation is the opposite of yours: everything and anything is available, but it costs a lot more. Happy New Year -
F-82 G Twin Mustang 1:48 "MODELSVIT"
Peterpools replied to Sasha As's topic in LSM 1/48 Work in Progress
Shasa Looking forward to following - terrific choice. Did a bit of research on the kit and it is a new design and new kit. he instructions show quite a bit of details are included. -
Chris Great start on for me both the 'golden age of plastic modeling' and you just can't say enough about that era of aviation. A huge fan of Mr Macs aircraft and the Voodoo, awesome: Big, powerful and looked like a Mac Truck with wings (That's a compliment). Of all the Voodoos, the two-seat version is my favorite. Nice work on the front office, painting the details. For its time, the ejection seats do look very detailed and under your steady hand, will surely pop. Too bad Quinta hasn't discovered model kits from this era - now wouldn't this be something. Raised panel lines don't bother me a bit and are surely in my modeling DNA. Will be closely following
-
Kriss Nice progress and looking forward to seeing how the mask set works out.
-
Oliver Brilliant detailing and tremendous work. The photo with the kit tail rotor does show how bland and barebones it was out of the box. And after you worked your magic, adding the details -OMG - incredible. The term "Night and Day" doesn't even come close. a

John As always, fantastic and super-fast progress. Looking might good.

Gaz Pretty darn tight and at least you can see both side walls with all the details. I'm sure, pilots needed to be on the 'slim' side, as slightly hefty pilots would feel just beyond snug. -
F4U-1A Corsair Tamiya 1/32
Peterpools replied to DocRob's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
Rob How did you make out with the electrician and the short circuit in the circuit breaker box? Fingers grossed it was a quick and inexpensive repair. -
Thanks Ernie, now I understand the genealogy. The gear seems to be quite complicated, with a trailing elbow design and ahead of its time absorbing heavy loads on landings on rough, unpaved runways.

Two little Brewsters, now a Buddy Build.

GWH Curtiss P-40B; The Flying Tigers

Thaks Kev Getting there slowly but surely -
Ernie Let me see if I understand this correctly. The CW-20 evolved into the CW-30, which evolved into the C-46, all do to the military's design specification changes. Am I close?

GWH Curtiss P-40B; The Flying Tigers

Thanks Carl, much appreciated. I'm pretty sure the roundel colors are now sorted out correctly, size is another issue and I'm just going to let it slide as is. -
GWH Curtiss P-40B; The Flying Tigers
Peterpools replied to Peterpools's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
Thanks Carl for digging out the info. It seems the best approach would have been to use the light blue for both the upper and lower roundels, which were not included in the kit. At least I have the color more correct for the upper ones. Kowing this, I wish GWH's would have included four correct roundels of each color but of course they didn't. Again, loads of R&D money and time spent on including details that will never be seen and then skimping on the decals. Makes no sense. My fault, I should have bought an AM decal sheet and not relied on GWHs. -
