Rob All this clear glass staining is starting to be an issue. I decided to use the both Mr Color and MRP on the P-40 as I bought the specific colors for the build. If I wind up with clear staining, another good reason to make the switch to acrylics. See what happens. -

That's all that counts

Harv Good thinking for sure. Just go the minimum work on the engine and move on. I wasted to much time on the P-40's engine for nothing.

Harv Making progress and rolling!

Harv Years of negotiations and I'm a very lucky guy as my wife Diane has never, ever said no. When we were first married in 1970 and after we got settled, I bought my airplane - still don't know why she said yes but she always does. .

Anyone considering the new Airfix 1/24 Spit? Too big for me and I'm waiting for the Kotare Spit. -
I'm pretty lucky in that my studio and hobby room are in the house and I have my paint booth in there as well. When I air brush, the paint booth is ducted to the outside through the window. When done, all comes in - takes a bit of work to set up and break down but for me, it works well and keeps peace in the house.

Chris The cammo pattern on the P-40 is one thing but what is going to add to the complexity is all the lumps and bumps that I need to go over. One such area are the machine gun fairings on top of the nose - the cammo line of brown and green goes right over them. Surely is going to be a lot of fun Yup, an all black Cat - perfect paint scheme for sure. -

Thanks Chris, very much appreciated. I'm pretty sure at this stage, I'm going to keep working on the P-40 and finish it and then do my GB entry. Just seems the mojo is working in high gear and painting the "Big Bird" is going to take time and all my attention. I'm planning on doing the cammo work as a combination of masks and free hand and normally, it goes pretty slowly. -

Rob Great save and so glad you took a deep breath and a long-needed break. A while back, I had experienced the same with my F4B Phantom and you had the same on the kit you were building as well. Geez, I wish I could remember which kit it was. I'm starting to think other then gluing the windscreens in place, paint the balance of the cockpit glass off the model, when using solvent paints. I don't think water based paints would exhibit these issues. I'm also thinking Gaz is onto something as well. Gear looks brilliants as does the underside weathering. -
John Gorgeous work ... looks fantastic

Harv Good point, I never thought of that. Where do you do your air brush work?

Agreed, it's a lot of extra work fixing what 'should have been done' by Revell -
Harv Nice start on your Desert Spit. With the forecasted weather, you might be in for a good spell and loads of bench time

Thanks Hubert I'm starting to lean Oliver's and your way and finish the P-40 first or at least when letting paint and decals dry. do some preliminary work on the Revell/Monogram Kingfisher and then back to the P-40. Never thought that much about the radiators as which style/angle of the grill was most efficient but rather how the design lent itself to being a canvas for painters. 😉 -

Martin Your Corsair surely has seen its share of tropical weather and combat. Looking well-worn for sure. Some mighty nice weathering
