  1. Ernie Fully agree and I would think the USN ops in the Atlantic Theater was mainly convoy patrol and submarine hunting.
  2. Scott Nice work on the yellow paint work for the Flying Sub. Nothing more important then keeping the 'Chief' happy.😉
  3. Terrific choice and I also have never seen this kit built before. Will be following
  4. Chris Some mighty nice progress and I have to agree, putting in the pilots and covering up the seats would be a shame. And completely agree about the IP, the kit IP is way better then the resin replacement - now that something you don't see every day. Sidewall look so good with all the details and pre-shading came through perfectly.
  5. Carl Unreal .. fantastic work and your PE skills are topflight. Nice plan and it's like having money in the bank just in case but seeing how you are sailing through the PE, you will be removing the kit parts. Thoroughly enjoying your progress and following all the way. I'm just still in the cleanup stages with the Kingfisher as I'm only less then a few work sessions away from finishing he P-40 and then it's an all out assault on my GB entry.
  6. Ernie Nice going on the cammo and looking so good. I'm a conservative guy and on the opposite side of the cammo fence and really do like the tri color Pacific Theatre paint schemes. I rarely almost never think of the Atlantic color cammo schemes for USN aircraft, as for me, they made their mark in history in the pacific.
  7. Ernie CMK & HPH - I never knew - thanks for the info and background.
  8. Hubert With new technologies being adapted by the AM companies, the incredible quality of the parts just keeps skyrocketing. I'm addicted to Quinta Decal Sets and always look to see if one is available for a new project before I decide whether or not to proceed. I just saw Quinta is releasing a new cockpit set for the Boarder Models Lancaster and it does look brilliant. But getting back to the Cutlass, your detail work is first class.
  9. Ernie Keep the info and historical documentation coming - it adds so much to the build of the why and hows.
  10. Hubert Nice start and so glad you decided to resurrect the Cutlass for the GB. Details look crisp and well defined.
  11. Chris Terrific progress on the Voodoo and older kits are a lot harder to build as they come from an era of no cad and slide rules. I've left intakes out a brand new kits and had to go back with a pry bar and fix things - times I just lose concentration. From my end the front office and ejection seats looks well done and busy.
  12. John Looking good and as always, amazing progress
  13. Ernie Delicate air brush work and well worth the time and effort. Looking mighty good
  14. Kev Gorgeous furniture - a true craftsman and no question, your wife must love your woodworking passion and hobby.
  15. Chris Always something as options and challenges constantly changes through a build. Even though the Kingfisher is way smaller then the Big Cat, I'm already facing some of the same challenges and choices of what to change and as it a very old kit. Thank goodness for flash and mounting pins used to hold all the original interior parts in place.😉
  16. Chris I was thinking more in line with the Big Cat in flight and the base for the metal rod be finished as a small water scene with a downed pilot in his liferaft waiting to be rescued - just something different. I know it's a lot of extra work, with the other option being a nicely built inflight display stand.
  17. Oliver Brilliant. I am just blown away with each update as to your engineering and building skills are limitless. How you figure all this out, simply amazes me. I'm happy to find my slippers first thing in the morning😉!
  18. Carl WOW, the PE AM looks fantastic and a huge improvement over the kit part. Some mighty fine PE work.
  19. Mike I think it was originally meant to let the guys know who is considering building what. With the start of the GB, just start a build thread in the forum Ernie set up and its fun time.
  20. Scott Pretty neat - love the look of the LED lights
  21. Chris Good idea for an inflight build and agreed, the solid resin tail is going to really move the cg rearward. Any ideas on how you plan on doing the inflight display: just on a stand or a vignette or dio. How about the base of the inflight stand being a resin water scene with a downed pilot in a liferaft?
  22. Rob Right with Phil and I know the feeling too well. Not sure which road you are going to take; try and replace the PE or chose a new entry.
  23. Scott Nice start a good to see you are underway. Will be following all the way. Nothing better then a well organized work area and love how you use your tool chest. I also have virtually the same tool chest. a Craftsman brand in the studio and never thought of using some of the upper draws as you did ... awesome idea and will be doing some reorganizing this week.
  24. Hubert Geez .. how the Navy accepted it for operational use is beyond me. A fighter plane that couldn't spin ... 🙃
