  1. Thanks Dennis, much appreciated Right with you for sure but you accomplished this on a PCM, limited run kit and the KH P-39 should have not required all this extra work just to get parts to fit. Keep 'em comin Peter
  2. Rob Holy Cow ... the GT looks fantastic with the racing stripes and the color looks perfect. Keep 'em comin Peter
  3. John Nice call on printing your own decals. I wish I knew how to print my own but I haven't a clue. Keep 'em comin Peter
  4. Ron Nice work on replacing the grill - looks so good Keep 'em comin Peter
  5. Wings and Tailfeathers 6/27/21 It’s been a busy week and some progress has been made – the wings are on and the tailfeathers are being fitted in place. Loads of work to do and I’m guessing a few weeks to clean things up for a good fit for the wings and horizontal stabilizers. The Wings Built up as per the instructions and surprisingly, no major problems. Of course, that all ended when I went to test fit each wing and the fit was deplorable. Out came the sanding sticks and grinding away I went. I lost track of the hours I sanded away removing almost the interior gear wall that sits up against the fuselage and the wing fillet area as well. In retrospect, I should have removed that portion of the wheel well as soon as I saw what the major problem was and now I need to clean things up and replace what was removed. Next up was trying to figure out the correct dihedral. Looking at loads photos, I was on the right track in that I decided to use the front spar that is visible behind the air intakes at the wing root for alignment, the correct dihedral and it seemed to work. Installing the air intakes were another story as the parts weren’t close to fitting. At first I was going to install them on the wing and then glue the wing in place – wouldn’t work as I couldn’t see the spar for alignment and not to mention, the wing didn’t fit at all now. Onto plan two, glue the wings on and then play around with the intakes to get them to fit. As you can see from the photographs, filler and sanding is going to be needed to clean up this area. I also decided to use some bits and pieces made from strip styrene to bring a bit more life to the radio boxes behind the rear cockpit bulkhead and it still needs to be painted and dry brushed. I started to seriously play around with the two top nose cowl panels and a way to get to get them to fit. Why couldn’t KH just make this a two piece affair instead of six panels is beyond me and save all this work for those of us who want a clean nose area? The front office glass is still resting in place and the fit seems to be OK but only time will tell. For some of the parts, I’ve started using Revell Contacta Professional Glue and am very pleased with the results so far. I’m finally able to buy the Revell glues and paints here on the Island. Thanks for checking in Peter .
  6. Mark Magnificent build - absolutely incredible work and the finish, what can I say - award wining. Keep 'em comin Peter
  7. MIke Amazing work and your research on how the wing warping worked is meticulous. Keep 'em comin Peter
  8. John Nice progress and looking mighty good. Won't be long before she is in the paint shop. Keep 'em comin Peter
  9. Hubert No problems at all and your conversation with Rob is very interesting. I'm sorry for spreading negative thoughts about any of the other KH kits but just trying to be honest on what I've experienced with the P-39. For me, too many issues and road blocks to deal with to enjoy the build. Keep 'em comin Peter
  10. Ant Same here - would love a good Texan without the issues. I've enjoyed following your build thread, just incredible work as always. I'm retired now, so getting together when you are here on the Island would be an early Christmas present. Right now, I'm still under Doctors orders - not to be out among anyone and I have to social distance at all times and then after my next Petscan we'll see how it goes. Keep 'em comin Peter
  11. Mark Simply Gorgeous Keep 'em comin Peter
  12. Absolutely correct and right with you. After seeing marks Lotus and his painting techniques, follow Mark's as his Lotus's finish is spectacular and I'm sure I might have gotten some of the polishing grits a bit wrong. Keep 'em comin Peter
  13. Gaz I guess, the bigger the better and a little easier to paint but I have to give credit where credit is earned - facial color blending and the look are so very realistic. So very well done. Keep 'em comin Peter
  14. Gaz The front office work looks brilliant and the gunsight - oh my, beautifully painted. Keep 'em comin Peter
  15. Ron Nice progress on the "Pete". With the advent of 3D printed AM, it seems almost everything can be found. They sure looks good Keep 'em comin Peter
  16. Rob Terrific progress on the GT .. Love the colors as a lot of mega dollar super cars, have outrageous color schemes. I have Tamiya 1/24 Enzo Ferrari kit and the interior colors are close in style. Would like to build it this fall. Keep 'em comin Peter
  17. WOW ... a new meaning to AM Keep ‘em comin Peter
  18. Hi Ant Got ya and much appreciated. I’ve more then a few times bailed out and removed the KH T-6 from an order. Believe me, if you’ve binned the kit, my fate would have been the same, just so much closer to the start. I’ve been following your FR.1 Wild Hair build on LSP and what can I say ... both brilliant and incredible. Keep ‘em comin Peter
  19. Wolf Holy smokes, looks like you’re also up in the middle of the night. I don’t sleep much these days - just look at the time (2:32 AM). Keep ‘em comin Peter

  23. Thanks Hubert Very much appreciated the background information and an explanation of how the design issues worked their way into the kit. Trying to cope with the fit issues has driven me crazy and almost over the cliff. I can appreciate what KH's intentions were but to make the assumption that everyone wanted all the access panels off, is problem number one. And since they did choose that route, then at least engineer the kit so the panels could be installed in the closed position and actually fit. I'm willing to bet most modelers leave the panels open or off as they are well aware of the fit issues and extra work involved. I love Tamiya kits with their incredible fit and engineering and am willing to pay for it. Even building their Mossie kit was an enjoyable build over a number of months. Complex yes, excellent instructions and parts actually fit. For me the fun in modeling is an enjoyable build without knocking myself out trying to get parts to fit. As with all my builds my favorite part is the air brush work and painting, at the bottom of my list is scribing. I know Ernie loves the KH T-28's and rightfully so. Not all their kits have major fit issues, but there are just so many that do from what I've read and seen on line, I normally avoid their kits. Keep 'em comin Peter
  24. Martin Got me Keep ‘em comin Peter
