  1. Cool idea, Martin! I haven't followed a lot of Afghanistan news, so this is all new to me. Rock on! I like the work so far! Gaz
  2. Putting the missiles together. Just let me say... unless you feel like wasting a lot of time... get ya some aftermarket missiles. They're roughly cast, with soft details, square edges on the fins, and the fit of forward to the rear halves is awful. As a bonus, none of the parts are made to click into the perfect place and angle. It's all up to you to ensure that everything sits straight, perpendicular, and parallel.
  3. Oh yes, I agree that it's a bad ass weapon system. But still rather portly.
  4. Wow! Natural metal do look pretty!!
  5. Well... there's always tiddlywinks.
  6. Supposedely, this is Viktor Belenko on final approach at Hakodate airfield:
  7. Here's some weathering for your large Soviet transports:
  8. So, what's the hold-up? The non-LS forum is pretty lonely.
  9. Hi everyone! Finally got most of the paint laid down. The main scheme is grays I created to mimic pictures and perhaps my own ideas. The detail colors are either Tamiya or Alclad II. Anyway...pics: Still I have missiles to build, touch up painting, detail painting, coats of Future, and then weathering. Fortunately there are some good photos of active duty machines. Thanks for looking! Gaz
  10. Tiger looks excellent! Love the detail painting! Gaz
  11. IP looks great, Tony!
  12. I know you guys have this strange fascination for transports.... God knows why... BUt if there ain't no guns... (or missiles) For me there is little interest. I still haven't built a Ju-52, Li-2, or any transport plane that had a gun. No love for non-violent models, I guess...lol Gaz
  13. Here in Australia I'm currently paying AUD 1.49 for diesel. But I'm not a huge driving fanatic and I live close to work. A $70 fill-up lasts me about three weeks. Still, the wages are good here. UK taxes are amazingly high. Must be paying for all of those CCTV cameras that are everywhere. Gaz
  14. Hah, Hah... Quite funny! I would never have guessed Venezuela was a large paint exporter to the USSR....lol And Harold.... is there a Russian equivalent? ...lol Gaz
  15. Guys, Thank you very much for the kind words! I apologize for not having seen and answered sooner. Gaz
  16. Some pics of your completed 190 collection would be nice! irregardless... I would still build a 1/32 Tu-95. Even if I had to give it away once completed. Gaz
  17. I really dislike the thought of 1/72. Despite the fact that I have a small amount of display space, building in that scale is less fun, and far less detailed then I can stand. Fine exterior details can easily be sanded off in error. I can stand 1/48, especially when it comes to twins. But this site and TOS have caused me to drool over some 1/32 builds and consequently I have maybe a dozen 1/32 scale single engine fighters built and still in the box. Now... if I could divorce my family and keep the house.... Gaz
  18. Excellent! I built the Miniart Valentine and had to fight the suspension to get all of the angles right before the glue dried. Gaz
  19. Now you're being a little extreme. The beret is an ugly little thing that didn't need to be copied. As for things 'co-opted' by the Nazis: Is Wagner still allowed in Germany? I know about the gist of the of those laws, but I haven't devoted much time to studying them. I feel for the modellers who have to leave their builds incomplete. Anyway... it doesn't matter. It's just my opinion. The world moves on... Gaz
  20. So sad that all of that great German heraldry has been lost. I still suffer pangs of regret when I see German servicemen in berets! Berets FFS!! That eagle would look sweet carrying a a nice, modern Luftwaffe Kreuz. Gaz
  21. You are correct! For a prize you can have two months of summer followed by the standard Canadian winter of 10 months! Gaz
  22. I found that pieces of the old lady's pantyhose were perfect for holding it in place against the sponges. It allowed me to foil the whole damn thing without ever marring the surface.
  23. I was building the 1/48 B-29 a while back. I built a swivel stand for it. I even beefed up the B-29 with a brass spar and LG system that would have allowed me to hang it against a wall sitting on it's feet.
  24. I'm sure that could be said of many aircraft.
