  1. Squadron has introduced accurate colors for Star Trek TOS spacecraft! It’s the main reason I’ve been holding off on my builds is because the only color mix found I’d using discontinued Model Master paint. https://squadron.com/squadron-scale-colors-tos-starship-space-ship-acrylic-airbrush-paint/ Now I’ve just got to wait on the color call out chart and I’ll be trying out acrylics again. CultTVman’s email mentions this. I’m surprised Squadron didn’t send an email announcing it. Email: You may have seen the line of monster colors and the flesh tone paints that we have added to the shop. Now Squadron has produced this set of 12 acrylic airbrush paints based on Gary Kerr's color guide for the TOS starship. (Gary is everywhere!) Note that this is a starter set and the bottles are 15ml. That should work well for a 1:1000 scale model. Larger kits will require some additional paint to cover the entire model. Squadron is also working on a paint guide to go with these, but it is not yet available. These paints are coming very soon, and you can add yourself to the wait list to be notified when they are in stock
  2. Great video! He kind of got choked up there near the end reflecting back on his early years. But I’ll give him a pass on his color choice. And he’s probably the only person alive today that would get that pass! I remember reading about that fire in the pits that took them out of the race. A photographer was on the way to take pics of the car and they rushed to get it presentable for pics. They said the paint was still wet when the photos were taken.
  3. Nothing like that I can remember. But I do miss my sodas in glass bottles. I recently bought some Mexican Cokes in glass bottles and made with real cane sugar. Talk about flashbacks!
  4. Carl, back in my bodyshop days we kept a small container of lacquer thinner on our bench to wet a shop rag and wipe down our Bondo spreaders. I made the mistake of using a Mountain Dew bottle for my thinner bottle. This was back in the day of glass 16 oz. Soda bottles. One day I was drinking a Mt. Dew and not paying attention as I was reaching for it. Did you know lacquer thinner tastes like the cheap Johnnie Walker red label? I immediately removed the thin styrofoam labels they put on glass soda bottles.
  5. Other side went down just as good! Mr. Mark Softer is the schiznit for these decals. Micro Set just didn’t do the trick. Now my only complaint is that the decal at the bottom is way too short to meet up in the middle. I’m going to have to get all artistic with my detail brush.
  6. I need a good stiff Scotch after that. And now off to the other side. Ugh….
  7. It’s been a minute! But I’m back on the P-40 this morning. Wife’s had me busy around the house, yard has been calling and trips were made! Starting the fun.
  8. John, I’m curious as to which decal set you used. I ask because I’m sitting down now decaling my K. Im using the old Squadron SuperScale MS320261 set. My decal set for aircraft #400 has the tail numbers printed in reverse for the starboard side of the tail! Tgank goodness I’m doing #209!
  9. Just can’t help yourself, can you Carl? I think we need to form an intervention group for some of us here. I could be a member of F-16’s anonymous. And F-4 anonymous, and P-40 anonymous, and ………
  10. Looks great! I need to crack open my Tamiya kit and tackle it one day soon. Hopefully it won’t turn into an addiction like you have with these kits.
  11. Wow! John, I honestly think that’s one of your best yet! But then again, I’m kind of partial since I’m at the decal stage of my K build now. Your weathering is very tastefully done and not “over done”. I just hope mine comes out half as nice as yours looks. Question, The circular antenna on top. Did those things spin or were they fixed?
  12. Let me see, it the past couple of weeks I’ve sold on eBay….. 1/48 MRC/Academy CH-53 1/32 Huskey 1/48 AC-47 1/72 C-54D Not modeling related, an old Kodak Brownie in the original box. A left over from Moms estate. Just clutter. We have a vacation coming up in a couple of weeks and will be gone almost three weeks between the trip and planned adventures (more trips) when we get back to the states. Once things settle back down I’m planning on posting a lot more items up for auction. My basement area is a disaster right now with all the boxes I’ve collected and models stacked up to liquidate
  13. I found something I need (want) to purchase from a hobby shop near Wodonga. Their website only allows sales in Australia and NZ. I’ve sent an email asking if they have a work around, but have not gotten an answer yet. (Albury RC, models and hobby) In a nut shell, I need someone to order it sent to their home and then reship it to me in the states. It’s a small item, a mufffler for an RC airplane engine. Of course I’ll cover all expenses and make it worth your time. This would require you to have a PayPal account. Strange thing is, it’s a product that was made in the States, but the company has been out of business for many years now. Anyone able to take this on?

  14. The sender contracts with the carrier, not the recipient. I’m selling off kits I’ll never build on eBay right now. If one gets lost by USPS, it’s on me to collect the insurance because I paid for the service. My CH-53 sold for well over $100 and I paid an extra $2-$3 for full insurance. But I’m only going to be patient for so long before I put in a claim with PayPal.
  15. Super Hobby replied back that they will issue the refund once their carrier (Polands postal system) notifies them it was lost. “Be patient” was her reply. I forwarded her the pic I posted here.
  16. I just replied back to my last email they sent me requesting a refund.
  17. Well ain’t this some $h!t. So in a nutshell, we sent you a copy of the shipping info, but your stuff is gone forever. That’s a big FU from the USPS.
  18. This popped up on LSP classifieds last week. I was shocked no one snagged it before I saw the ad. John was gratuitous enough to gift me with a set of the Parrot Head decals a couple of months back. I just couldn’t turn this down for $80.
  19. LOL! No. 😡 going to wait until the 13th and send another email to Super Hobby asking for a refund. They chose the shipping method. If they balk, PayPal will pull the funds. I hate that idea because I’ll probably burn that bridge with Super Hobby. They stock a lot of odd things I cannot find elsewhere.
  20. Impressive! When I built my F-35 last year I did a really impressive bronze finish on the exhaust. For the life of me, I cannot remember how I did it. Damned old age kicking in.
  21. LOL! Right after we got married, the wife and I was at the local mall in Woolworths department store. I picked up an M1 Carbine out of a trash a full priced at $165. Wife was all “you don’t need that. Put it back.” Being new into the relationship, I was a good boy. I made up for it later in life. 😁 I picked up what looks like a never issued Winchester carbine for my son. It was $2000. It seriously looks like it just rolled off the assembly line. Showed it to my wife and she just shook her head and “$2000 for that!?” Me: “Yea, remember when I tried to buy one just like it at Woolworths back in 1989? It was only $165. You told me to put it back? I bet now you wish I grabbed the whole trash can full of them and dragged them to the cash register.” I did luck out and bought my Garand when they were right at $500 or $600 at the CMP. I also bought 2 of the woodless Dane’s for $300 each for my sons. Each got one on their 18th birthday.
  22. I drive by this place all the time. 15 miles from me. They’re a Superperformance dealer. https://www.downforcemotorsports.com/ Nice days they have a few pulled out in the lot.
