What is on your bench right now ? Share a picture :)

We were supposed to make a stop before Liverpool, but the ship was a day late getting out of dry dock from upgrades. Our Sunday departure turned into a Monday departure and they had to drop the first port we were supposed to get. We got a $700 credit, so we figured what the heck, let’s pit it towards a drink package and spend an extra $700 so we were both covered. It was an easy decision after we bought two Corona beers and the tab was $25. Besides, they were offering a 30% discount on the first day. Shetland was cool! We went to the old ruins that dated back 4000 years in time and progressed through history. It was the original “man cave” they built out of stones. We still need to file for a refund on the extra night of hotel cost. And considering it was Kings Day weekend in Amsterdam, hotel prices were jacked up accordingly. -
Interesting thread over on LSP. Getting shot down big time due to the cost. That’s the side I’m on myself. Just no way to justify another Phantom at that price point. I built my B model for right at $300 USD back in 2015. That was the Tamiya kit, intakes and GT Resin B conversion. I wish RPM all the best luck in this adventure as I’m sure a few guys will flex their wallets and go there. But will it be enough to keep RPM in business?

We sailed from Amsterdam on 4/28 and first hit Liverpool, then on to Wales, Ireland and a couple stops in Scotland. Last being Shetland islands. It’s been an eye opener! But fantastic weather this entire time. All the locals were celebrating because of the unusual bight sunny skies and warmer weather. I told them all don’t get use to it. I’m taking it home with me when I leave! -

My current project. While this is relaxing, I’m having DT’s not getting bench time. Heading towards Amsterdam now for a flight home tomorrow. -
Up your game, boy!!

Visiting Glasgow, Scotland - tips for places to see?

Good timing on this thread. I’ll be there in a couple of days. I’ll be on the big cruise ship at the docks nearby. -
But he’s just a tiny ankle biter. One good swift kick and he’ll fly like a Chihuahua.

Oh, and FWIW, this video is by Adrian Ciulei. He owns CH Ignitions. The radial is probably a customers that sent it to him for a conversion from glow fuel to gas on ignition. He machined an adapter to install the Walbro carb.

Maverick will be called back to duty aboard the Nimitz to take care of some nasty business no one else wanted to do.

Check this out. It’s the Corvette my son’s been building for the past year and a half. He has a couple of wiring bugs to work out on a couple of gauges and it’s a done deal ready for auction. https://www.mecum.com/lots/1144916/1967-chevrolet-corvette-custom-coupe/?aa_id=681649-0 Mecums photographer came out to take the photos and his prediction is it will bring around a half million.

If you don’t love this, you’re really not an airplane guy. I’d love to have one just to play around with. I’d never have the balls to actually bolt it to the front of an RC airplane. But there’s another video where a guy bolted two of them onto an A-20. There’s a NIB pristine example for sale on an RC forum for $3000. Yea, that’ll never happen.

Great video!

I swear I heard him refer to “this car” when he was talking about the 6 cars back in the day. But I was dumbfounded if they gutted a multi million dollar car and turned it into a street car with the nice interior, etc.

Squadron has introduced accurate colors for Star Trek TOS spacecraft! It’s the main reason I’ve been holding off on my builds is because the only color mix found I’d using discontinued Model Master paint. https://squadron.com/squadron-scale-colors-tos-starship-space-ship-acrylic-airbrush-paint/ Now I’ve just got to wait on the color call out chart and I’ll be trying out acrylics again. CultTVman’s email mentions this. I’m surprised Squadron didn’t send an email announcing it. Email: You may have seen the line of monster colors and the flesh tone paints that we have added to the shop. Now Squadron has produced this set of 12 acrylic airbrush paints based on Gary Kerr's color guide for the TOS starship. (Gary is everywhere!) Note that this is a starter set and the bottles are 15ml. That should work well for a 1:1000 scale model. Larger kits will require some additional paint to cover the entire model. Squadron is also working on a paint guide to go with these, but it is not yet available. These paints are coming very soon, and you can add yourself to the wait list to be notified when they are in stock

Great video! He kind of got choked up there near the end reflecting back on his early years. But I’ll give him a pass on his color choice. And he’s probably the only person alive today that would get that pass! I remember reading about that fire in the pits that took them out of the race. A photographer was on the way to take pics of the car and they rushed to get it presentable for pics. They said the paint was still wet when the photos were taken.

Another P-40E to P-40K build!

Nothing like that I can remember. But I do miss my sodas in glass bottles. I recently bought some Mexican Cokes in glass bottles and made with real cane sugar. Talk about flashbacks! -

Carl, back in my bodyshop days we kept a small container of lacquer thinner on our bench to wet a shop rag and wipe down our Bondo spreaders. I made the mistake of using a Mountain Dew bottle for my thinner bottle. This was back in the day of glass 16 oz. Soda bottles. One day I was drinking a Mt. Dew and not paying attention as I was reaching for it. Did you know lacquer thinner tastes like the cheap Johnnie Walker red label? I immediately removed the thin styrofoam labels they put on glass soda bottles. -

Other side went down just as good! Mr. Mark Softer is the schiznit for these decals. Micro Set just didn’t do the trick. Now my only complaint is that the decal at the bottom is way too short to meet up in the middle. I’m going to have to get all artistic with my detail brush. -
