  1. I just got this for the ‘66 Mustang project. It’s the last of the big ticket items I needed. It’s a 9” 3:50 gear with limited slip and modular iron bearing carrier. I’ll be working on the Mustang on the 24th since my son is coming home for a few days and wants to work on it with me. I also have a different rear disc setup to install as well.
  2. Picked up another toy.... And another.... And another....but cannot show the pic because it is NFA Jail. Got an Innovative Arms 9SX silencer to go on the Glock. Now I just wish I could find 9mm on the shelves.
  3. Wow, so young to have that issue. Glad it got corrected.
  4. I was going to suggest fruit flies, but what you described sounds much bigger. Maybe an Amityville Horror situation?
  5. I'm the big round guy in the left corner. Pic is from this past summer at Myrtle Beach on our last day just before we hit the road for home.
  6. I just did an email search and found out I bought it second hand off one of the forums back on Feb 28, 2018. Ahh, the good old days before 2020.
  7. So last night I was going through my stash of kits and low and behold, I find a trumpeter F-18E single seater Super Hornet kit. I remember buying the two seater F years ago from Tower Hobbies. But for the life of me, I had no idea I even had this kit. In all seriousness, I have a pretty good memory. I can usually look at a kit and remember if it was eBay, a forum deal or from an on line hobby shop. But I have no friggin' idea where or when I got this one. Good God I'm getting old and senile.
  8. I’m happy to say that I never bought the first one of them. I was told they are like Lay’s Chips. Just can’t have one! So I avoided all together. ...Suckers......
  9. Yep! And I bought one off a forum classified as well. Here’s the one I bought . It was my COVID build this past March/April.
  10. OK, I like ugly. I gotta have it to go with my Skyraider. Guess if I start saving now I can afford it.
  11. Signs me up too! I’ll dig through the stash and look for something. OK, I just went nuts downstairs in the stash. Got a few I pulled out that I’m almost positive I’ll never get around to building. I promise, I’ll wipe the dust off first! 1) 21st Century F4U-1A/D 2) Revell Grumman F4F-4 Wildcat. Oldie but Goldie Smithsonian kit. 3) Hasegawa P-51D 4) Trumpeter F4U-1D Corsair Shipping will cost me a chunk of change, but well worth it for this group! EDIT: I started thinking about this shipping situation if I pull a user outside of CONUS. If so, I'll offer up a $25 gift card to recipients hobby shop of choice.
  12. Now this just doesn’t compute.
  13. Just ordered an Italeri F-35A from Sprue Brothers. Funny how a little liquor will loosen your wallet.
  14. I will add that there has to be a certain mental state I have to be in to enjoy my time at the bench as well. I have several situations going on in my life right now that just won't let me relax like I need to. I used to build models to get away from all these mental things like an alcoholic uses alcohol to forget things. I've got to shake a few of these "demons" before I can enjoy building again. 1) Mom passed away back in September after caring for her in Assisted Living and then a Nursing home and now I'm knee deep in all the Probate stuff and trying to figure out how I'm going to get rid of 1000 sq ft storage of her QVC/HSN collection and dealing with past family issues. This will take a year at least. 2) Wife is wanting to pack up and move to a lake home, so I'm looking at having to pack up everything for potential storage short term so I'm afraid to start anything new. I have too many hobbies, and my shop/basement is packed. We're currently culling old furniture right now. 3) Son is moving to Colorado with the Army, so I'm involved with packing up all his firearms, ammo and liquor he cannot ship with the movers. I'm staging it all for his move Thanksgiving weekend. I have to take next tues & wed. off to meet with them to take what they can. 4) I've got to make a decision on my '66 Mustang GT Fastback. I've got to finish the rear end gear swap and rear brake swap and start driving it or sell it. It's that simple. So far I'm using it like a model I built. Get it to a point and put it on display. It's a car. It needs to be driven or sold.
  15. Getting lost in details and giving up and putting it on the shelf of doom for one. Not being able to justify time to work at the bench is the biggest.
  16. Just got in my set of Aerocraft brass landing gear for the Lancaster from Ali yesterday. Wow! Is about all I can say. If you’re like me and like some good solid legs for a model this size to stand on, well worth the investment. Now I just need to find time to build it......
  17. Walking through Hobby Lobby yesterday. I see RoG has brought back the Monogram label with a few old classic kits I made a mess of as a kid. Lots of nostalgia seeing those on the shelf again, but I didn't bite. Too many kits already! But the old Patton tank, 1/48 Lunar Lander and a few others. Talk about instant flashbacks to the '70's!
  18. Never spray lacquer over anything but lacquer. It's a very "hot" paint that strips enamels. Back in the day the bodyshops had the same issues back before the basecoat/clearcoat systems used now. Cars use to come with lacquer from the factory and paint and body guys used lacquer to touch up and make repairs. When the factories transitioned over to acrylic enamels, some of the old school guys refused to conform to the new paints and they had a hell of a time blending paint.
  19. Well, that was surprising to see the sold auctions. Someone did a BIN for $450. Seems they are bringing $325 to $450. I think I might have to try selling on eBay again. I’m hard pressed to build a kit that’s been in the stash all these years knowing it’s bringing that kind of change. I still have an extra set of decals so I can build the two seater from a SUFA kit.
  20. I tried the preorder, but it has a blank box below the email address and it requires it to be filled in, but with what? Something is lost in translation. Mirek also mentioned that there would be a forum discount code on the other site.
  21. I think the latest post was something about waiting on one more sprue mold to be made. I’ve seen photos of all the spruces ready to go so far. Still contemplating if I really need to add another great kit to the stash at this time. Might get it just because if I do decide one day, it will be too late or I’ll have to pay 3X for a kit. I want to be the guy that sells it for 3X if I decide not to build it.
  22. It’s the latest thing with the automotive industry since paint has gone nuts in cost due to EPA regulations, labor costs and the insurance industry basically taking over body shops with regulations and cost controls. Try to find a shop these days that will do an all over paint job, other than the Maaco places....
  23. OMG! I could not do kids that far apart. Our oldest and youngest has a 8.5 year spread. After keeping our 2yo grand for a few hours, that’s a young mans game now! Travel safe and have a great time! Our grand is only 3 miles down the road.
  24. Great idea! I have a very similar cart I usually keep a piece of old plywood on top of. It’s a cheap Harbor Freight cart and for some reason one side is taller than then the other, so if I don’t take time to modify it, it won’t have a level top. But I’m looking into building something very similar but more of a fold up paint booth with a fan and ducting. I’ll keep the fan unit on it along with the air compressor and cleaning supplies.
  25. Sweet! My old FFL/gunsmith had a full auto that he built as a dealer sample. He went in with a few other guys to fund it, then they would all go to the range and have a day of fun. He went out of business, moved out of town and no one knows what happened to the MG-42. I'm sure he got a friendly visit from the man. Last Fall I bought a PTR9c, MP5 copy in semi. No way I could drop $36K for a real full auto, besides, the fun would wear off quickly after a few mag dumps. I've posted pics of it here already. I've got an old classic S&W Model 60 snub nose being delivered to my FFL on Monday.
