BF 109E Undercarriage legs - Colour choice anyone?
kahunaminor replied to JG26's topic in Modelling Discussion
Thanks Rob, An interesting collection. And there in all its glory a MLG leg in what certainly is a lighter colour and probably RLM65! With the colour photo above and the contents of that walk around, I think you are pretty safe to proceed! Regards, -
Great stuff Mark, That foil process is a great find. The build looks top notch and thanks for sharing it. Regards,

BF 109E Undercarriage legs - Colour choice anyone?
kahunaminor replied to JG26's topic in Modelling Discussion
Not having a picture reference with me I would go with the following as a general guide. Not gospel but u/c legs, inner surfaces of doors and interior of bay 02 , exteriors 65 and canvass covers which can be a range of colours from a sort of pale pink to dark tan. Not much definitive help sorry. Regards, -

Master Barrels Spitfire "E" wing - mounting suggestions
kahunaminor replied to kahunaminor's topic in Modelling Discussion
You would think so but apparently (or so I have been led to believe) they were made for either the Tamiya or PCM kit. However to have tooled them the same as the previous set for the Tamiya C wing, would have meant they were too short for use on the PCM kit.Still thinking on it..... Regards, -
Master Barrels Spitfire "E" wing - mounting suggestions
kahunaminor replied to kahunaminor's topic in Modelling Discussion
I thought that may be the case. I have sent Master a strongly worded email Thanks Dave -
It is coming up to time on my Spitfire XVI build when I am considering how to mount the excellent barrels to my Spitfire. My mark 1 eyeball and logic suggests the outer circumference of the kit part is the same as the circumference of the turned metal. Therefore merely thinning said plastic to "slide" the barrels in would not work. I am considering removing the plastic by saw back to the front curved insert and then thinning the sides of plastic to create an oval, leaving hopefully a correctly sized hole. The obvious problem if I screw the pooch is that I will not have an insert to mount any cannon. For those of you out there that have faced this first world problem...how did you resolve it? Pictures speak a thousand words: Regards,

For something a little out of the ordinary as you are wanting and you already have the donor kit (or can get a He111 P) why not try the HpH Half He 111.? Here is the link: http://www.hphmodels.cz/index.php/en/shop-2/produkty-hph-models/doplnky-a-chemie/heinkel-he-111p-in-scale-1-32-detail It is truly a beautiful and unique kit. Some food for thought? So I am starting work on my Tamiya Mk XVI for the GB. I have most if not all the Barracudacast resin extras that are applicable. I started looking through the instructions and matching bits and pieces. Now with the evolution into the bubble top canopy, the canopy retraction mechanism went on the starboard wall. Thereby taking up room previously reserved for the remote connector. Was the remote connector repositioned or just done away with as no longer necessary? Staying on the starboard wall, just forward of that panel is the fuse panel (?) for the Mk II gyro sight and the selector is just below that. Tamiya supply these in one part (F14) and Barracuda have them as two seperate items. At least to my reading of both sets of instructions this would be the case. Am I reading this right? There is a distinct lack of web based images with an Mk XVI cockpit fitted with a Mk II gyro gunsight or maybe I am just looking in the wrong place. I did find a couple of nice photos with a Mk IX with the aforementioned sight. Thanks fo any advice.....sigh this is what happens when you get distracted...sorry for the double post!

Very nice Peter, I am actually picking up a G-10 this afternoon from a club member. The dark green harnesses were quite common for late war aircraft. As supplies were dwindling another source for harness material was needed and hence the dark green started appearing. Regards and good luck,

Thanks for looking in. We Aussies like a "bit of leg room." I think this illustrates the point quite well: Regards,

Well we took a few twists and turns in the past couple of weeks. As evidenced by this picture: The Boomerang exhibits some specific wear patterns. Conversations went back and forth about rivets versus non rivets until eventually this picture was posted: which sort of sealed the deal for me. Now how to go about replicating it? After many versions I went back to the simplest method as suggested by Ralph Riese, water colour pencil! Here is how it turned out: Happy with that! It was then a short hop to completion: Many, many thanks to all who provided input, encouragement and support. I will post some more photos in the finished areas.
