  1. I blame "Bleeping Jeep" for building this purple thang ...great drive, drank like an alcoholic at a free bar . Nice IL6 engine
  2. I tend towards Fruilmodel from CZ though they announced this summer they are shutting down . You can still find their stuff on eBay eg Just an example
  3. YouTube - vice grip garage / mustie/ real car reviews etc will soon get you up to speed with American car kultur & fox bodies mustangs are a bit marmite in my opinion …..just to work a UKism in there 😄
  4. Lovely old ship the Rusty B . This is me on the starboard side of theisland as she steamed into Pompey for the last time 27th March 1981 😀
  5. Found rather than got in the post. Amongst my fathers papers... some large photographs that he used to get for me whilst on board from the PR office. These all date from his time on Bulwark R08 , '71-71 and '79-81. Nice references for when I get around to both my Wessex and ( yes I guess I'll have to buy one🙄 ) Airfix Sea King. The Airfix release is for a different aircraft in the same 826 squadron earlier when they were on Eagle , this pic from 1980 when they were briefly on Bulwark , but only a few masks away from this one .
  6. 999 is a place holder I'm guessing as it is the price of everything . Even though it got a bad rep I'd like a GR1 Jag , as the only other option is the Heller/Airflup one , which I've built and is ancient .
  7. Have you seen a Chinese firm has apparently taken over the KH moulds ? Zimi Model
  8. Curious , the AFV club Centurion provides a real metal spring for the suspension units, I see Hobbyboss doesn't. TBH it's makes little difference on the AFV club one other than a very limited movement. Tamiya's old MK3 clunker had it all as one moulded lump . Are you using the plastic individual tracks or going metal ? Personally find the metal tracks a lot easier to work with than glueing single links together. +1 for Scotchbright - absolutely great for removing the odd glue fingerprint as well I find 😀
  9. 👍 It looks simple enough , but then it is just a stick with wings IRL . Might throw a resin seat at it to cheer it up a bit . Last 104 I did was a Revell 1980's 1/32 a long time ago . That one had 8 ...maybe 10 parts from memory.
  10. Not built a Starfighter for a while, this will be a NMF I reckon ....& shades of Bob Calvert from my youth .
  11. Thats is a pretty special P38 , congratulations .
  12. In the UK a microlight is defined as being under 450kgs ...a Sopwith Camel with guns came in at 500kgs ...crazy
  13. That came out great , I love the paint fading effect , and all the masking paid off well . Lovely result. I've got the doggy old Revell IB 1/32 to get around to one day , 🫣
  14. Awesome , thanks !!!!
  15. Various Walkarounds all taken by me ...mainly Bovington / Samur/ Ardennes . Also been to Munster ...and took about 3 pix .... Panzer II's Panzer III Panzer IV Panthers- Samur / Bovvy / Ardennes King Tiger Bovington Walkaround Flak 38 Samur Walkaround Chieftains
  16. Yes... I couldn't wait .....and yes ....very reminiscent of Tamiya's old Chieftain for fit and detail .
  17. It's about the only armour you can drive single handed on UK roads without drama, although cameras are advisable . A Fez should do 40 ... Did watch a bloke and his wife reverse their Ferret into a Landrover once and then try legging it . She claimed she didn't notcie, which at 4 tons is probably valid.
  18. I'm a little out of touch but last time I looked they were £8-10K. I passed on one without an engine about 6 years ago that was £1500 ...which would have been ideal had I had the space at that time , as the plan was to fit a 300tDi and autobox out a Discovery . I met some fellas who had done this conversion before , giving a higher torque , same (ish) rev range so the speed is similar , but with quadrouple the MPG. Just didn't have the workshop space at that point. Link to said machine PS I lusted after a Stalwart for about ten years , but again it's where to put it .
  19. One for Brits I guess ....I'm not a big fan of Airfix at all , but sadly a huge fan of Ferrets ...nearly bought a real one a few times . So , flimsy box, plastic is harder than usual grey Indian chewing gum, has the feel of the early 80's Tamiya plastic . Details ore typical Airfix , simplified , a little over heavy ; compared the Miniart Dingo I built a while ago no real comparison , Miniart wins hands down . Cheap though, only 25 of your British Pounds. Three colour options covering early mid and late service ( Bronze Green 1961, Batus in the 1980s and UN in Cyprus 1974) Can only be built as a MK2 with the silly turret, you could leave it off , but the interiors are different on the MK1's - three seater / radio fit etc . Maybe they will do one later ?? No figure , again a shame, as cold war Brit figures are thing on the ground. Suspect this is a great weekend build in the making as it's only 187 parts and tiny with it. Decals look ok .
  20. Just bought the Airfix Ferret ..even though I hate Airflups.....I remember when you could buy the 1:1 "rough" for £500 back in 05/08 .
  21. The opportunity to weather something to death I've found Hobby boss stuff generally has a decent fit , so hopefully so with your build .
  22. I'll get a bigger Skyraider ....
  23. Fun build , in the colours of Lt Wagner who shot down a Mig 17 ! Typical Tamiya , even for 1998, fell together with no filler , no grinding or excessive filing needed . Just build n paint and then weather.
