  1. Yay - can I send you a free Zerrstorer to go with it ?
  2. See........... I pulled a fast one there , that's actually inside this Finnish Ausf G not the D above ....🤣 Pays to know a few people with them just in case ....Stug III ........soooo 2017 dharlings .
  3. Hull is interesting with some attempt at movable steering arms and spring suspention .....yeah ok Tamiya shall we wedge a motor in there too ? Low part count and usual "no issue" fit means it builds quick , got here in about 3 hours ... And on it's hull
  4. Rolling on after my Border Pz IV ....yes .....this is so 20 years behind. No real armour texture, weld beads are small and dubious , whole kit has the feel of "starter" to it. Vinyl tracks are really low detail compared to the moulded one on the border.
  5. Don't sit down this will be quick ....... In the clearing of my stash pre move , I bought this 18 months ago along with its cousin the Pz III Ausf L . Built the PzIII last year , not a bad little kit. This Stug looks very like my chums ( that's a D though ) but will stick with a Panzer Grey for this one.. ..so lets see how many shades of Grey I can work into this simple little thing . Metal barrel.... basic PE screens ...6 marking options ....meh.... is ok
  6. I've not seen John for a few years what with covid and everything else . I know he was looking at retiring to his farm in Normandy and taking this with him , but the import problems of a foreign military vehicle were problematic, so don't know how it ended up . Should get back in touch again ....
  7. Found a vid from the Marder III build ....yes it's an IVECO diesel in there not a petrol . The drive clutches came in and out about 20 times , as John was double guessing how they went together with no manuals and the plates were shagged out .
  8. In the UK ...sadly he'll be out in 2 1/2 years on liscense , less if he's also spent time in custody awaiting trial . Only hope is some fellow prisoners get to him , however they tend to put all the nonces together so he'll be safe with his TV and XBox no doubt. Welcome to sadass Britain, where police aren't interested in crime any more and all criminals come with a hard luck story. Texas it ain't sadly .
  9. Strapping Aryan lads of the old Kreigsmarine ..get to eat a lot of fish .......Raeder would be proud . 🤣
  10. Cheers ...I'm a bit "model to a period photo" at times. I don't trust drawn profiles per se . Did get somewhat carried away with this a few years ago . 😐
  11. Glamour pix of this recent build . Over all very much liked this offering from Border ( my first of their kits) . Fit was very good , details well executed and huge range of options . If you wanted to model a specific tank , you'd have 99% of the parts to do it I'm sure. I'm also a big fan of Meng , and I'd rate Border alongside them , both in advance of recent Tamiya models for options and part count for my money . Used the link and length track which were fine , their workable links not so good. Didn't both with the mesh skirts either given this was supposed to be a survivor of Watch am Rhein . Will look around for a couple of nice figures so may come back to this another time. As ever , I don't do clean ! Link to WIP Cheers PW
  12. OK calling this one done for now and ze pix are here Hatches are all unglued, I couldn't find any figures I liked in the stash so may look around for something nicer and revisit with a couple of crew.
  13. You talking about the Saumur PzIV I posted a pic of above ? It's an H for sure , just with mesh skirts, which is more a J thing I thought? Which makes me question how accurate/original a lot of the exhibits are . Not a pop at the French Armour folk, but museums sometime get "over enthusiatic" . Panzermuseum at Munster had the Frankentiger for awhile, which is just welded together parts in all honesty. Bovington famously painted the Matilda II wrong . My general point was museums make mistakes os exhibits aren't gospel . Also I'm no real expert on the subject matter here and as Nick Moran points out , you can never say "this didn't happen" because there will always be a contemporary photo showing it did 😀 A picture of it's rear end - clearly an H looking at that perfectly rounded muffler !
  14. Oddly coincidental Tomasz at LCW has been doing the newish Tamiya PzIV , all acrylics no oils.
  15. Cheers for the pix . My curiosity is now high , as on the Panthers, AFAIK, Ambush Cammo was painted in the Daimler factory not at the unit level, and not for a long time either, also MAN a played with the "disc" mats for a short period , before giving up altogether and supplying them in just primer . Was this factory or the Werkeskompanie in 5PD painting them to match their Panthers. I wish I knew more . Thanks though , I might have and excuse to go buy some more books !
  16. Yay !! Dunno if you noticed . Lustmolch = sexy beast ! & people say Germans lack humour ...not in my experience !
  17. For sure - Pilot training is the biggie given the uniqueness of a Harrier. Not so sure about South Africa . As you may already know Thunder City ( Mike Beachy Head ( now dead) flying Lightnings and Buccs) was closed by the SAFAA because they had been extending the maintenance periods on key safety parts, to the point where 50 year old components that were meant to be replaced we just ignored as no one was making the spares anymore. This all came out after the Lightning crashed and the ejector seat failed to work, leading to the sad death of the pilot . The restored Vulcan that was flying in the UK ceased flying for much the same reason , spare parts and the lack of them . No so sure if the US will be selling anyone all the cheap spares it got when the UK sold it's entire Harrier fleet to them for twenty bucks. 🤔
  18. Love it , what a great result from a kit loooong past it's sell by date . Flag idea is genius , almost makes me wish I'd not packed in smoking a few years ago ! Wooden deck is also executed very well . ...as for the crew and the eagles ....awesome ...I really couldn't bring myself to that level of dedication at 1/72. If I may suggest, unless resin is your thang , I'd be tempted to go down the foam, paper and gloss medium route as a less stress way . and ...the linky is here.
  19. @GazzaS Thanks for those pix , I've not seen them before . I guess the PK companies focused more on the big cats in the last years of the war , I've associated ambush with the later Panthers and KT's , I've not noticed it on PZIVs , but maybe will have to look more closely now !
