  1. Thats looking good - how's the kit Winnie , is it a Trumpy A or B team effort ? Must admit a fondness for the old Intruder and Prowler. What great names and great looking aircraft !
  2. Ok where were we ? Construct , basic paint . So , painting of some details , selective glossing , decals , (we are going LSSAH for this one) , dry brushed , initial chipping , heavy oil pin / flood washing and then sealed for now with matt varnish . More detail painting to come , and then a bunch of mud as I reckon this is a survivor from 7th Koy KG Peiper at the end of the Bulge in Jan 45. Not sure if the mesh guards made it through all the bombardments, but will need tracks and a crew of two . Here one from 1er Zug got zapped by fighter bombers on the 30th Dec*. Had a thought about a base as well . Cheersly PW * Looking at this pic closely it has a number of interesting things going on . It appears to be a late Ausf H from the front glacis features and the hatch, but no zimmerit applied ....so post Sept 44 , pretty much the end of the run of H . It maybe seems to have ambush pattern cammo , which would also be rarely seen on a Pz IV though the spots could be just fire damage as well though.
  3. Precise build , I like the subtle mottling , & the markings look like masked not decals , nice one .
  4. Looks a nice pad to land , plenty of light and space . Gazza's right though......... that carpet monster gonna eat and eat πŸ˜€ Divorce sucks , been there seen that too buddy . The pain fades after time . I hope it works out ok for you Harv .
  5. Roll it Horatio πŸ˜€ ....I'll have to get back on with the Destroyer in the next few months 😐 .....
  6. Replaced most of the plastic spaced armour ( 1mm ...) with copper foil ..(0.1mm) . Given this was made from 5mm boiler plate my copper is much closer to scale. And done the two colour cammo plus a quick filter coat. Back Sunday maybe ...see much more fun than a teeeny ship
  7. Coming together nicely , I'm enjoying this Border Model Primed in primer filler , black based , toned with red primer , based again in DGelb . Not bad for an evening . Need to sort out the spaced armour on the turret then can do the cammo patterns . Cheers PW
  8. Being honest .......I didn't open it up and think "OMG thats the best thing ever ....." I think the bright colours make it all a bit "toy", but maybe when it's in place more, it will come into it's own ? I don't normally loose sleep over IPs. TBH I feel lotsa work put into cockpits is often wasted, rarely seen once the aircraft is finished, but again just my opinion...bear in mind I am way more an armour meddler ...
  9. So having proposed avoiding Quinta due to their Russian owners , and suggesting Yahu instead, I felt obliged to flash out some of my own cash for a Yahu product to have a look at . This 3D printed pre made stuff is not my personal idea of modelling , and having stated this I get that lots of people think its a great idea, so no need to go round the roundabout on that debate. Each to their own . πŸ˜€ So straight from Poland a 1/48 IP for Tamiya's Mossie . I look forward to using it later this year , you never know I might even be won around to the idea that this is the way to go ....resin ejector seats seem to have worked their way more into my builds of late.
  10. Bit more progress...been busy with other things this week . Kurt overseeing construction of the Wanne . You cant tell but those suspension units will rotate if you want them to , if you are using the workable track . Hows the fit ??? It's absolutely awesome , as tight as a millenial Tamiay offering , zero filler or clamping needed Kurt feels that Panzerwomble's intake of wine is inversely proportional to the progress of this model . But what about those workable tracks ... ??? For my money they are a let down . Not so well detailed as the link and length offerings , the track pins are poorly thought out. If they were the only option I'd go metal tracks rather than bother with these. More laterz PW
  11. No it's down only on this one , although one of the build logs showed them cut off and modified for folded which didn't look to difficult if you're ok with a small amount of fabrication .
  12. Civilian Aircraft Authority won't give it a cert of airworthiness to fly in the UK , nor will not be covered b y a private pilots license . Most ex military jets are "banned" as considered too dangerous for civilians . Some older trainers likes Gnats and Hunters , but nothing supersonic or considered "complex" ...which a Harrier certainly is . Jet Art Aviation sell them as non airworthy museum exhibits , which they are in the UK ( and you can taxi them all you like) , although if you imported it to the the US and convinced authorities that you could maintain and fly it safety no doubt it would get a cert of airworthiness. There's an ex USMC pilot Art Nalls , with 1000's hours on harriers that operated one for a while . Assuming of course they didn't consider it an arms export . Despite being a nanny state , the crash of a Hunter at Shoreham airshow a few years ago has put a dent in what is allowable in the UK , in the same way that the EE Lightnings in South Africa at Thunder City were grounded.
  13. A Tammy Tiger ....not built this one since summer 1984 . It was a random museum purchase rather than something I was desperate to build (I like Panthers more) Also prefer metal tracks to plastic seperate ones these days . Feel a SS Pz Abt 101 Normandy build coming up . I've more references for that than I can shake a tank barrel at. Wayyyy back nearly 40 years ...the old rug runner very early moulding . No airbrush so splotch/ dry brushed for cammo . Had a thing for painting insignia rather than using decals. Hadn't even seen a real Tiger back then . Plastic is now very brittle . Might find some tracks for the old beast though.
  14. The restoration company Jet Art Aviation have restored another Harrier up in Elbvington Yorkshire. . Won't fly in the UK but may find a new owner overseas .
  15. Turret done barring the spaced armour . Primed with grey rattle can , based with black/green , primed uppers with primer red , painted in Dunklegelb Tamiya's newer XF-89 . Now to finish the hull to the same point then cammo . Nice i nscale armour texture and welds . No filler needed
  16. Close ups on some of the nice moulding details - manufacturers markings on tyres , well defined tracks , pin marks very slight and rarely in an area that is visible. Plastic is good too , not too soft , but easily cut, sanding doesn't rip it. Pretty good , even down to the offset centre oil level screw and the hub welds. Holes in the edges of the tracks .
