1/48 Revell MDD FG1 Phantom 892 Sdn FAA 1972 RFI
PanzerWomble replied to PanzerWomble's topic in Archived GB's Sub Forum
Cheers - I would be so tempted . I know people modify the Tamiya one but it's a huge amount of work . Whine Mode on British jets are well under represented in 1/32 , the Lightning is crap , no Spey Phantom , Sea Hawk , Jaguar or SHAR , Buccaneer only if you want to shell out millions on the obscure Icelandic kit , the Revell Hawk is an ancient and frankly an anaemic subject. I guess there is the new TONKA , the old Hunter and some Euroblanders ...meanwhile somewhere in China they are making yet another new tool bf109 or fw190 release .....or wow... another Gigant .....coz that was a huge gap in the range that people were clamouring to buy ....FFS . . It's only Airfix, if they could get their heads out their asses with 1/32 as a concept, that would probably take them on now . They know their releases of those subjects in 1/72 and 1/48 sell well so .... jeez they are even doing a Gannet ??? & not like there are shortage of subjects to go scan . OK This was once only , and on my thread ...... đŸ¤• Whine Mode off- 13 replies

Revell 1/32 Spitfire Mk IIa
PanzerWomble replied to Peterpools's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
Mother Womble always wanted a son called Panzer ....đŸ¤£ There used to be a Fallschirmwomble out on the early internet as well ( nothing to do with me though, maybe a distaff cousin đŸ˜†) . My name is quite unique so have kept it off the internet for 25 years, I like my privacy . -

When I've built this one the crazy amount of Microsol needed to get the roundels on the undersides of the wing to conform to those "bumps" .....scheeez!!! Yours look to have turned out great - bravo . -
Thanks for the useful thoughts . Pe railings are in the kit so a given, as is the radar . Doing a lot of PE replacement is not a thing that interests me with this build though , small steps , your Arizona build is not where I'm at today Being build number 1 in 1/350 , this is test to see if I can produce something I'm happy with .... it might still end up being a lawn dart. I'll build on skills with subsequent build it it floats my boat. ..see what I did there ? So mask.... paint... mask ....paint .....mask ...pain ...doesn't use up much paint though .

What is on your bench right now ? Share a picture :)
PanzerWomble replied to Martinnfb's topic in Modelling Discussion
For me , all the way from Taiwan in 6 days , Bronco's Brit AFV crews. As with most of my Bronco experiences , the moulding are quite heavy, but will be interested to see if that gives a better or worse definition to the finished figure. Some nice poses and mix of uniforms , even down to an arm division badge . -

Thats a very pleasing shape -
Thanks Rob -a good call as there a no folk onboard , though will 90% go with seascape though as reasonable ok with making them . North Sea storm or calm Fjord ....? If I drill out the portholes what next ? Leave them as holes or back them on the inside with something black ? Made a base & hot melted it together should allow me to work on it without moving it around

So as someone else also mentioned a while ago, having modelled a lot ...I fancy having a crack at a 1/350 ship . I built a 144 Uboot and the Revell 1/72 Sboot in the past couple of years as a "ship"warm up . Rather than plunge into a huge battleship build...whioch i'm not sure I'd finish , I thought I'd dip my toe into this new skill set with a smaller subject, Trumpeters Narvik class destroyer . So bring on the superglue , 20x magnifying glasses and all the other endless frustrations of building something so small. It's only 12" long ....how many parts ???

Okey dokey ....this is a step in an odd direction for me. I make tanks ....and occasionally aircraft ......not ships . Last proper ship I made was Airfix's Bismark ...in 1981 ...after reading Mullingheim-Rechberg's book . it's battered remains as found in the attic whilst clearing out the family home last year . Even a name plate made with Letraset ...I thought this was top of my art aged 13 ( althought still think Scharnhorst is a prettier ship )

Excellent looks really good , can't see a single ejector pin mark at all is that the case ? The details like the riveted ribs are exquisite. Yer paint jobs really made all of this pop as well . The IP instruments were one by one I'm guessing ? -
Missed the briefing ...

Makes you wonder where they managed to get access to one over the past year . I doubt there are any on Europe . Taofledermause Jeff likes them

Very late group build entry, Marder III.
PanzerWomble replied to 1to1scale's topic in D-Day 75th Anniversary Group Build
Yes indeed , John also did the Stug III , which now lives in Texas at a tank driving range...and allowed him to retire to Normandy . Not bad for 2 years work . Prior to that he did numerous Stugs and Pz III's based on FV432s . -

I can't imagine how big that will be . Odd Fact - Did you know the Mil Mi 10 has been known to have some worrying abusive behaviours ? -

If we are necroing old stuff. My pal restored a Marder III ... ish ..and yes it drives although the final drive clutches were an absolute #### to sort out . And to help with some of the basic measurements he used that Tamaiya kit. -
