Finally got the main airframe done. Weathered with oils and panel wash done with mixed oils as well then flat coat. Next step is finish the cockpit and then missiles and undercarriage, then it'll be done. It's a really enjoyable kit to work on.

Nice to know their incompetence is universal! They can piss ya off no matter where you are on the planet. 😆 -

Would be interested to hear your thoughts on that thinner for the oil washes. I've generally used the Ammo Odourless up to now but it's a bit of a pain to get hold off. W&N I could pick up at Hobbycraft. -
Casting looks very nice, especially that exhaust.

Looks absolutely stunning now it's finished. A fitting memorial. -
HMS Unicorn is undergoing a major overhaul at the moment to keep it seaworthy (or at least floating in the harbour!) and to try and restore more of the original features. Built in Chatham in 1824, so one of the oldest ships still left.

I notice the 'hairy helper' is in position again Carl. 😄 -
My wife makes mincemeat vodka for Christmas every year as a little aperitif. Just soaks all the fruit and spice in the vodka for about a month then sieves it all out. Bonus is you have some very alcoholic mincemeat for making your pies afterwards!!

No, it's minced beef in these with a nice gravy. Haggis is lovely and tastes a hell of a lot better than it sounds!

Yes and the RRS Discovery is now side by side with the V&A museum. Amazing looking building but actually not the most functional as there's a lot of dead space inside.

As a native Dundonian I can confidently say those are Wallace's mince pies. Staple part of the diet of any kid who grew up in Dundee during the 60s & 70s. Mind you we also have Dundee cake which probably be better suited for a wedding! Also the home of marmalade, Commando comics and DC Thomson, famous for the Dandy and Beano kids comics.

Bakelite was still around when I was a kid in the early 70s - most of the telephones had a bakelite case for example, also the casing of electric plugs and light bulb holders. Had a distinctive fishy smell if it overheated! 🤢 -

Looks like a lovely kit. Amazing just how small it is when you see it next to the others. -
Hi Peter Thanks for replying. Just on a quick Google search it looks like a great place to be treated, glad they've done so well for you. I realised they've been in a few of the same research trials that we've taken part in so must have similar scanners. BW, Gus

I'm a recent convert to Ammo's Masking Putty which is very easy to work with and leaves no residue. Not sure if it's one where he rebrands other products but it is a hit with me.

Great to hear your news Peter and glad Diane has been with you all the way. Apologies for the nosy question, but I work in the NHS PET service over here and I just wondered what the system was like for you in the US. Do you have to arrange all your scans privately or does your oncologist refer you to a particular centre? I presume it's all standard FDG PET with access to less common stuff like FLT or PSMA if indicated? There's some great new scanner technology coming online now with fully digital systems which are going to improve things so much.

We have two Jack Russells, so this may well be from one of our neighbours!! 😄

Hope it helps get the juices flowing Scott.

No posts on this for a while due to holidays and slogging through decals but finally done with all the stencils and markings. I know Tamiya get some grief for the quality of their decals but these were great; easy to work with, not too thick and settled down nicely after a couple of applications of Mr Mark Softer. Next step is to seal these in and then onto weathering with some oils and PLW

Do love the effect you get with Friuls (or similar) but you're right, it is bloody tedious getting them prepared -
One bit of bright news is that there are some really good new therapy options available for prostate cancer. We're just starting to roll them out as a national service in Scotland doing lutetium-177 PSMA therapies as an adjunct to the gallium-68 PSMA PET/CT imaging. These will really benefit some patients who previously would have been considered to be beyond all treatment options. Keeps me in a job dealing with all the radiation protection implications of it all until it's my turn.
