  1. Problem is, all the actual proper posts seem to have gone. Looks like they have overwritten them! 😢
  2. My son was much the same, loved all the big Star Wars Lego, and spent many happy Xmas Days assembling them with him. He's away at Uni now, so I have been tempted to pull a couple from his cupboard and do them myself. Might be worth a few quid in the future as they're all intact. He's funny as he laughs at people who moan at Ikea pictogram instructions and says they should have built more Lego as kids!
  3. Looks like the build thread has been completed hijacked by spammers!! 😥 Wish the inadequate little dickwads would bugger off elsewhere.
  4. Hi Rog Sorry to hear about the hassles. We went through this process quite a few years ago and as you say it's this assumption that you know how it'll happen that grates. Just explain stuff clearly as you go along and life would be so much less stressful....
  5. Hi Kriss, just a thought. They look very good on the horizontal surfaces but appear less convincing on the angled surfaces such as the spine. Hard to say if it's better than you could produce free-hand
  6. Happy New Year to you too Phil, and to all our other members all round the planet.
  7. Thanks to Rog (Artful69) for my voucher for Hannants. Have a funny feeling it's mainly going to be spent on supplies for the Viggen!
  8. Blood also sets like concrete if it's in sufficient quantities. I remember speaking to the senior mortuary technician at our hospital about it and he said if a body was left too long on the slab after an RTA or such you almost had to chisel it off with a jackhammer. Rather her than me... 😰
  9. But we Brits just love fugly airframes. Remember we gave the world the Blackburn Blackburn, the Blackburn Beverley and the Fairey Gannet! 😃
  10. Gotta disagree Hubert, I love the Wessex. First helicopter I flew in - Air Sea Rescue from Leuchars bringing an injured skier down from Glenshee. Noisy, cramped and vaguely terrifying but they did the RAF well for many years.
  11. Great job Sasha. A nice unusual scheme as well.
  12. Thanks again Ernie. Wow, I have always loved the Viggen but didn't order the JetMads one as I wasn't sure my skills would be up to it. I'm going to find out now! 😁 Couldn't be happier.
  13. Now if someone would just make a sensible scale model of a Voodoo. First kit I remember making with my Dad as a kid way back in the early 70s. Think it was Airfix but might be dreaming. It was certainly 1/72 but still a decent size. A 1/32 kit would be an impressive specimen!
  14. Those look great and I'm sure will be just perfect under a coat of alclad 👍
  15. Best wishes to all. And to all our North American brethren , stay safe in the next few days. The weather looks like it's going to be pretty horrific for a huge swathe of the continent.
  16. Haven't noticed that problem here Ernie as by 5 years old in our climate the Rovers have all rusted beyond repair! 😅
  17. Come to Aberdeen Hubert and you'll see that day has arrived. Every w***ker in the oil industry has one and none are fitted with indicators, everyone else is meant to be psychic and know where they're going. Still it's been great fun in the snow this week watching them all go sideways with their rear-wheel drive and low profile tyres while I pootle past in my 4x4 Fiat Panda. 😁
  18. I'm sure you've mentioned it Phil, but what black base did you use? I went with Rob's suggestion and used the Tamiya lacquer black as the test I did with the Xtreme black base was irregular and, as others have said, didn't seem to dry fully.
  19. Thanks fellas. Luckily the Tamiya lacquer black seems to exactly match the shade of black in the decals, well close enough for my short-sighted eyesight anyway!
  20. OK, managed to fix the shattered decals to my satisfaction (don't look too close!) so here's where we're at The Extreme Metals work like a dream and dry so fast. I've used aluminium with panels picked out in dark aluminium, matt aluminium and duralumin. I wouldn't bother with the matt aluminium again as the contrast with the main colour is almost negligible. Plan is for a Flory wash next and see how that looks, then decide how to proceed.
  21. Hi Carl, yes I've used the black vinyl masks on the canopy but I'm starting to regret it now, should have bought the Eduard ones. For one thing, they look undersized to me and I suspect the framing will look too thick when I remove them. Well, you live and learn.
  22. Hi Rob, got to agree. I'll stick to putting vinyl on the turntable from now on. 😄 I normally use the Maketar kabuki ones as they don't warp anything like the vinyl. I only bit on these as I really fancied the Black Panther scheme but in future I'll be a bit more discerning and avoid anything in vinyl only. The decals at least seem to sitting down with some Microsol, so I'm hoping I can touch up the breaks with Tamiya LP black and it'll look okay.
  23. Memo to self..... Don't use Montex mask sets again. Just used the masks for the codes and they left residue on the NMF, then the decals for the Black Panther logo and text disintegrated into a million bits. Not happy!! In retrospect probably should have done the codes before the NMF as well but felt it would be too fiddly that way. Have used Maketar masks numerous times with no issues, so will be sticking with them in future. Will posts some pics once I've repaired the damage.
  24. Don't know why but I saw that picture and just imagined the guy in the middle going 'Wheeee....'
  25. At a quick glance, I thought that last picture showed a poster stuck on the front of a wardrobe, then I realised it was the kit box!! 😮 You're going to need all that garage space just to display that when it's done.
