I also wondered how Italeri got the idea to make those intakes in such a way that there was a seam running from top to bottom straight through a hatch? Just half a cm or so more to the front and the seam line would have been between to panel lines and much easier to remove.(I opened the box on my Mirage IIIE, just hoping that the fuselage would be different, but no, they used the same place for the intakes to join with the fuselage as on the IIIC, so I closed the box and moved it to the bottom of my stash). I had exactly the same thoughts like you. Don’t know what was in the head of the designer. They could have really done much better. No gap to fill: But the fit of the canopy is only good if you plan to leave it open: But I‘m happy: I will leave it open... The first subassembly without rework! You have passed with flying colors to say the least. Your cockpit, ducting changes and a million other adjustments are going to really make a great model. I have never done an Israeli aircraft before. Despite all of your trails, your fine works makes me want to build one.....with another kit maybe. Thank you Frank! I haven’t done one before either but I always liked the 3-tone camouflage like the SEA-scheme of the US Airforce and wanted to make one Israeli aircraft. F-15 or F-4E would have been a better choice regarding the available kits. The IDF also flew early F-4Es as far as I know. I have the Tamiya in my stash. Thank you Frank! I love the Israeli 3-Tone Camo. Looks nearly as stunning as the SEA-Scheme! Thank god to my tiger-saw this was a job which could be done within 3 hours: Still some small faults to be corrected but the main work is done. Finally I added the small stiffener plates which I sanded away when reworking the tail cone: Next thing to do is to add all the rivets which were lost during the sanding process. Especially the Swiss variant with the canards is really nice. Some of the big reworks (nose and tailcone) won’t be necessary since I want to build an RS: I also like the camouflage schemes of the 70ties and 80ties. Very colorful. Not comparable to the grey in grey in grey of today and many ugly planes...
