Metal Colors For Brush Painting

What brand of acrylic paints are best for brush painting, particularly metal colors?

I've only tried it a couple times but the Ammo Metal ones seem to brush well.

Tough one, as far as colors for airbrushing metallic, there has been a huge development in the last years with Alclad and AK's Extreme metal colors to name as the finest. These colors are not usable with paint brushes though. For me that means, I tray to use the airbrush as much as possible.

For brush painting I have no clear recommendation. I found some of the Tamiya X colors were relatively good, but others are not. Grain and equal application are the decisive topics with these. One of their silvers, I can't exactly remember, is decent (I think chrome silver, which is silver but not chrome) and another, possibly aluminum is terrible and the worst was bronze.

For figure painting and detail painting by brush, I often use these sets by Scale 75, which cover evenly and relatively well.

Another product which comes in handy at times are the AK metallic waxes, which are best applied by brush, piece of cloth or cotton swab. They cover well, but are hard to get with an even shine over larger surfaces, but the metallic appearance is better than most brushable paints.

Tamiya's Titanium Gold is pretty nasty as well. Only Tamiya colour I've ever had just gum up the airbrush completely. Pigment just doesn't seem to distribute through the carrier evenly and reacts with Mr Levelling.

I have this Vallejo Aluminum. It is for air bushing but to thin for brushing.  Do they have another 
line of metal colors that are thicker?  Can't seem to find it if they do.

 Actually the Vallejo metal colors work fairly well for brush painting, small items that is, bigger ones I would use my airbrush.

I can't seem to get the Vallejo metals to cover well (brushed) on small items rather it be on bare plastic or with a primer. Air brushed they work fine
on larger surfaces. The now, long gone, Model Master Metalizer's were great for brush painting of small items.

That is the line of Vallejo metals I use for brush painting. I don’t have  the colors just a few: aluminums and silver which work well. I’m leaning more and more towards the Tamiya Metals these days.

I know you referenced acrylics, I use the AK Extreme range, albeit solvent based but can be brush applied. They are very thin and viscous but apply nicely, well I am happy with the finish……..
