I saw a one for sale at my model club for sale this past Saturday....   Made in Canada by Hobbycraft.  Even had a Malcolm Hood.

Actually, Hobbycraft made an -A version, with the Allison engine, Gary. Or, if it is claimed to be a -B, it may be a reboxed Trumpeter kit, in which case the accuracy is … « trumpetesque » (see John’s thread on grafting a new nose on the kit)

interestingly...   the tall tail is not in the instructions.  And there are other hints that this was a G-6 Trop that someone decided to upgrade into a G14.  "Hey...  let's put Hartmann with his Tulip markings in for a big splash in the market".  Cuz...   as we all know, the G-6's flown by Hartmann don;t have the Tulip.

Hi Chris, I have a favorite....   But it's one nobody picked.

With all of the Erich Hartmann builds that are going to be 74/75/76, I thought it would be cool to go 81/83/76.  I've also wanted to do one with a nose band for a long time.  But who knows what else may come up.

Hey, beauty is in the eye of the beholder!  The yellow bands look good, as well as the tri-color mottling.

I just came across the link from Britmodeller on German Camo that you might be interested in.  I perused it and it may be of only limited help/information, but thought I would pass it along just in case something caught your eye.

Edit: this machine is often portrayed with yellow ruder , it was actually camouflaged, the mottling is visible on the bottom part in the shade of the horizontal stabilizers .

Not sure if you're planning on exposing the engine detail, yet I would like to post this picture that quite clearly describes the cowling attachment, just in case that you guys saw kit of a 109 doing butterfly on the contest table.  I did.

That's a great photo.  It would be cool to do if you could get scale-thick parts.  

FYI....    there is a short tail in this kit.  As well as other G6 parts.  You also get the early canopy with steel headrest armor as well as short and tall antenna masts.  So there you go:   Early and Late G6 as well as G14 all in one kit.  I will even have to remove the umbrella blisters.

No wonder nobody gets the cowl shape right.  They all walk on the darn things and bend them to crap

Anyway...   I worked on the cockpit today.  There's still a long way to go.  Detail painting...   that's where I suck.  

The cockpit is typical 109.  But...   the ZM parts fit wonderfully giving perfect angles each time.

There are some decals to add...  as well as more detail painting.  I'd kill for steady hands!

Nice choice for your color scheme and markings. You're 100% correct about 74/75/76, as I'm going with the kit Hartmann scheme on my 109. I've never built a 109. When I get going, right after the Whirlwind, this is going to be all new ground and your build is easily going to be a major reference for me.

Nice start on the front office. Parts do look very well detailed and brush painting is going to be a challenge for sure. One of the best features of ZM's instructions is all the colors for each step is shown at the bottom of the page - mighty handy.

Thank you, Peter.  I do like the ZM instructions.  There are even small pictures of the painted and assembled sections to look at for reference.

And another neat feature is the locator pins.  It’s not just round hole-round peg.  Each locator and hole are shaped and sized to fit only with each other.
