The HGW belts were a bit fiddly, but nowhere near the Luftwaffe seat belts. Like always, I assembled the parts with the buckles still on the PE fret. The decal silvered and there was nothing I could do about it. Luckily I use masks for the stencils . Cheers Rob That's a good tip as those HGW belt are frankly frightening, especially under 1/32 scale.

Bomber_County
Rob, the Corsair looks absolutely amazing. The weathering is very subtle but so damn effective. Congrats on another stunning build….. 2

Just glad you were able to remove all the blue tack and keep the Corsair on track. More important is resolving the water issue in your home. Hopefully it's not a leak or broken pipe. We had some scary plumbing issues at home the past few days and the plumbers did a good job resolving the issues and we're back to normal. Painting should be starting this afternoon as we look a major storm square in the eyes for the next 24 hours starting this evening. Heavy rain and wind gusts up to 60 mph Thank you Peter, I don't like bad surprises close to finishing a build, but plumbing surprises, I detest even more. There definitely is a hole in a tube, as the clock is running with no consumption at all. I could exclude the houses, but one of the houses is connected through the garden water circuit, which was the affected one and I had to cut the whole circuit. The garden is huge and has about twenty water taps. I used a stethoscope on each and found an are with higher noise levels. I dug out the closest of these to the house and cut the tube behind it and sealed the end. Now we have water in the houses and in 80% of the garden, better than nothing. Later, I will try to detect the tubes and substitute the part with the leak, hopefully. In the moment we have a storm as well accompanied by heavy rain, so this will be a subject for the next year, I guess. Cheers Rob

I had a clogged pipe a few days before Christmas, called a plumber and he couldn't resolve the issue. Called in a specialist and in an hour or so, the clogged was removed and gone. I know my limitations - limited at best and way less and miles behind your capabilities and skills. As my wife says and she is always right, just call a professional who knows what they are doing right from the start and have the problem fixed the right way. After I try, I normally wind up calling anyway.

Of course ,there are some helpful friends around and some professionals, but in the end, it helps to find your own solutions fast and reliable. Good to hear, that your issues were soled before Christmas holidays Peter. Cheers Rob
Peterpools
Rob Never thought about those types of constraints and issues living on a small island. You're so right and lucky to have helpful friends and the abilities to tackle such problems. I'm a great starter but a terrible finisher and over the years, have learned to make that phone call right at the start. Still, I wish I had your abilities to dig in and solve a lot of these problems that are always popping up.
JohnB
EXCELLENT work on the Corsair Rob! Certainly looks the part. Used but not abused. I really like the Tamiya Corsairs as they are the best. 2

Up to search and rescue now. Sometimes it feels, like i stepped on the foot of a Voodoo priest. Cheers Rob 1 1

Peterpools
Rob How did you make out with the electrician and the short circuit in the circuit breaker box? Fingers grossed it was a quick and inexpensive repair.

Fingers grossed it was a quick and inexpensive repair. I employed the method of deduction Peter. I could see which circuit was affected, it was one of two in my workshop / man cave. I disconnected all machines and other consumers and still had the fuse jumping. It had to be the lighting, the sockets, the junction boxes or the wires in the wall (worst case). I disconnected the ceiling lighting (easiest to detect culprit) and woosh, the rest worked again. Tomorrow, I will work my way in logical order backwards from lamp to lamp and renew the luster terminals by the way to a better standard. I'm always unhappy, when fuses jump out, but also very happy that they did, instead of something smoldering somewhere. Unnecessary to say, I'm not an electrician, but I accumulated some skills over the years and have my analytical engineering background, which helps a lot. I could do with a little more peace on the house side for a while, where the subjects accumulate a bit too much for my taste in the moment. First plumbing, then entering water through extreme heavy rain on Christmas, now the Lighting issue and all this in the middle of a storm with lots of clean up to do. Can't wait for a better beginning of the new year. Cheers Rob
Peterpools
Rob Surely sounds as you have had your hands full of repairs and fixes - a lot to deal with. It must be so assuring knowing you have the analytical reasoning to think through these issues, find the cause(s) and then the skills to repair them; I only wish I did but don't. I've learned a long time ago, that it's better to call in qualified help and have the work done correctly and as quickly as possible - I'm a great starter but a poor finisher. Up until a few years before Covid for many years, I worked in season, six days a week and never had the time and more importantly the ability and desire to fix more then simply repairs. I know the situation is so different as you live on a small island that present its own logistical problems. On the other hand, I live on a huge island; Long Island. The island is divided into two counties and two borrows: the western two borrows of Queens and Brooklyn are part of New York City and have a population of around 4.8 million people. The two eastern counties are Nassau and Suffolk and have a population of about 2.9 million and I live in the eastern most county of Suffolk. Our situation is the opposite of yours: everything and anything is available, but it costs a lot more. Happy New Year

Peterpools
Rob & John Even a Yank can be honest and I just love the Tamiya Mossie. I just feel Papa Tamiya pulled the plug on 32nd scale as being too expensive, too many parts and too detailed - comparing it to kits today, she he right in the ballpark and still has the one best thing going for it: it's Tamiya.
