The roads are literally iced over and all but impassible as of last night, so I wasn’t able to get home.
What’s a guy to do?
Fortunately, I had hit a LHS yesterday morning, and as well, I had an unopened kit in the truck, soooooooo….

Might as well do something.

Well over 30 years ago I went up to NJ for Sony training on 3/4” VTR’s. (TV station video tape playback machines). I was building and flying RC during that stage of my life.  I took a small kit with me to work on after class in the hotel room.  My building pins were not holding into the cardboard I brought so I removed a ceiling time from the dropped ceiling and flipped it over on the desk and built away!  Catch was, I had to remove the build in the morning and replace the tile before housekeeping came while I was in class.
Good times!

Yep, I’ve taken over the built in desk at the Holiday Inn Express in Lewisville, Tx.   I had brought some stuff with me along with a couple changes of clothes as I had a strange feeling I might get stranded.
I was going to go and buy a 1/72 scale fighter and try a quickie build, but then I found the Hawk kit, still in its shipping box, in the back of my car.
So it won’t be a quick build, matter of fact, it’ll go straight to the SOD when I get home. I’m in the middle of a resin biplane build, and still building PE flaps for my Helldiver, so this’ll sit till I’m done.

GREAT USE OF TIME.  I was never able to bring modeling supplies on a business trip and DO anything.  But I never had to deal with much of an ice-storm as well - so good planning!  Safe travels!

I just couldn’t bring myself to bring a big dollar resin kit on the road.

What absolutely sucks is that I need red paint for the levers, and I ain’t got me none, dangit!

I took a kit to Alaska so I'd have something to do when the old man and his missus were having their daily nap.  Sadly, it didn't survive the return trip in the luggage.  I left all of the little parts off...  But the canopy was smashed .  Luckily it was a cheap kit.

Next group build….

”Hotel/Motel madness!”
May I suggest we all pick a small and quick build or it could get mighty expensive. Especially for me if there is a casino downstairs.  That’s the only way I can get the wife to play along.

Is this brush painted? Damn fine work.

Don’t make my head expand, man.  A combination of brush and decals.

You gotta watch that.  Their 'spend per hour' can get PRETTY PRICY!  Best if you can send them off to a movie or bowling or something cheap.

What a bummer to be stuck in a motel. At least you had the foresight to bring a model so you'd have something to do. 🤪
