Thank you stopping by Gary. Honestly I’m in the same boat, hardly catching with all of the amazing builds that are happening around here. The woodwork on your S-boat is breathtaking, still need the check the rest.

Mossie is getting rivets , seams are getting needed clean up and the broken undercarriage is drying with the fenders on.
spinners received dove rivets and additional details.
found few pictures of bashed propellers so , creative juices here we go :)

Your mossie all in 'red' looks like a race plane.  Funnily enough, it weighed more than the Messerschmitt Me-110 on engines of the same/close rating yet was so much faster.  Shows the value in good aerodynamics.

There were two separate camo schemes for the fighter and bomber versions. The fighters generally were green and grey on top while the bombers were typically green and brown with black undersides.

Coastal Command Mossies often had a different camo pattern as well.

Surface work. Lots of scribing and riveting.

The correction of the wing profile at the radiator level makes a hell of a difference ( although it still looks funky outside the engine nacelles, IMHO ). Thank you for paving the way on this much needed correction of the HK kit, Martin. It may move my own kit up the building list (which, at my current pace, means another 20 years anyway 😂🤣), now that you have proven it can be done …

Ditto for the fuselage at cockpit level and nose. What a difference !

(Btw, I suppose you will not correct the nacelles’ shape ? If people wonder why I am asking, there is no way this LG and wheel could retract in the nacelle opening of the HK kit without going though a shrinking machine)

Keep the great work coming

A quick update. Last night I’ve been through a bunch of photographs of Canadian built Mosquitos to establish the style and general location of the demarcation lines.
this morning I freehanded the basic colours which exposed all the imperfections and booboos to deal with.  More refinement of the front windows with the help of a polishing wheel. No way I can do this by hand. :) then more filler and scribing. Once the surface is finalized I can focus on the inner details.

The photographs show two different cammo color applications. Was there an A & B set of colors?

Great catch Peter, thank you for your encouragement and continuous support. Carl already explained the differences in colours, I can only add that even the regular Green/Grey camouflage was applied in two opposing/reversed forms. Similarly as you can see t on Hurricanes for instance.  Again I am learning as I go, there are guys who would be able to explain these anomalies in depth.

Nevertheless I am finding this odd D.H. design more and more captivating.

Thank You Hubert, the outside engine side would required significantly more time to tackle and this build should be as easy as passable :). I am still tweaking out the radiator transitions. Feels never-ending .

Nacelles are a different can of worms, that is probably not worth opening. I could cannibalize Tamiya and consequently being hated for another 3, maybe 4 generations to come. The Eduard resin wheels of the correct diameter reset the stance and I will call it done with some additional detail, like brake hoses, bolts etc..

time for some tunes

Martin

Aces on the freehand cammo work - looks fantastic. I just finished doing the freehand cammo on my Spit (Update tonight) and totally forgot about lightly drawing out the cammo pattern with a pencil as a guide, which would insure a much more accurate pattern applied. Next time, I'll follow your lead. t
