Great Wall F-15J JASDF

First step was the cockpit, just kidding. It was the exhaust flame holders.

Someone's tail is in the way. Let's try again.

Then the upper fuselage half was added. Thankfully with the way GWH has moulded the wings, there's no worry about misalignment.

Love these tiny caricature models.  I have an F-16 I started but misplaced the pilot.  Then I found it packing for the move.  And now I have no idea where any of it is at.

We've all been there and done that. I think it just comes with the territory.

Or possibly the size of the mess on one's workbench.

Yea, my last house the modeling bench was just a simple fold out cafeteria table.  It would have rivaled some I’ve seen on here, that’s for sure!
Had a second table in the room that was the junk yard.  It was self cleaning because as it piled up, it slid off onto the floor.  If we didn’t move 3 years ago that pile on the floor surely would be at table height by now.

Nice work Carl! Incidentally, I was recently gifted one of the Hasegawa

"Egg Girls". These are companion pieces for their own Egg planes.

I have to admit I was taken by suprise! She's 1/12 scale- so pretty big.

The character is " Rei Hazumi" , dressed in a swimsuit,  and in a dynamic

pose. Something different for me, but I have to admit, she's pretty cute!

Thanks Paul!

Those Hasegawa Egg Girls are very nicely done figures.

I have one of their JASDF F-15J egg plane kits around somewhere. Might need to dig it out and add it to the build.

Egg planes would make a great super-fast, mini GB someday.

They certainly would.

There's even AM decals and resin available for them so it can feel like a real GB.

No probs with the intakes, Carl :D?

Cheers Rob

Thankfully no. There's no intake trunks so I just wanted to paint the back part flat black before installing the intake.

Like so:

And now the intakes themselves.

I got the cockpit painted. I did a light dry brush to bring out some of the details.

Next up I added the pilot. PXL_20240419_235948044.thumb.jpg.ea28c5216cd549758261b0dc10b99286.jpg

Then it was time for the canopy.

Sadly there's no masking set for this kit so I had to do it the old fashioned way.

Finally a bit more paint. Not sure if the camo shows up or not.

Carl

Looking so good and yes, the cammo does come shining through.

Nothing like masking the old-fashioned way and just makes us appreciate paint masks more and more. Times and the hobby certainly has changed over the years and what ever happened to those wonderful, raised panel lines?

:construction:
