PanzerWomble Posted November 14, 2024 Posted November 14, 2024 Started for the Twins GB. (Build Log here ) & lost my way a bit , so shelved it until more mojo came back as this is one for my shelf, and my fave aircraft so it had to be an effort I was happy with . My first build this tooling was in 1998 . Back then it seemed awesome and is still probably one of Airfixes better releases of all time IMHO . I've built the same kit 4 times since , these days..... it's feels a bit old ...cockpit is crude , weapons a bit 1990ish . Maybe Eduard could make a new tool .....? Czech Master full cockpit , and old Airwaves metal ladder , lashings of alclad and other metallics, 20 year old decals that were fine and in the bestest scheme ever ....111 Sdn "the tremblers" with that awesome black livery and lightning flash . Laterz PW 4
PanzerWomble Posted November 14, 2024 Author Posted November 14, 2024 Whats better than one Lightning? .....this one I made over 10 years ago , F2a of 92 Sdn On the left F2a has the later kinked wing of the F6s , F3 right has the earlier straight F1 wing .... 6
PanzerWomble Posted November 14, 2024 Author Posted November 14, 2024 Whilst we're having a fly in , the Navy joined in , one of my other all time favourites from the Get it Wet GB Thats all folks ! 5 1
Rod Bettencourt Posted November 14, 2024 Posted November 14, 2024 Good looking build of a cool looking jet. Rod 3
BlrwestSiR Posted November 14, 2024 Posted November 14, 2024 Nice pair of Lightnings and a Toom to go with them. I still have an F6 in the stash from way back when along with the 1/32 Trumpeter kit. I've been trying to get my hands on an Echelon vac but no luck yet. 3
HubertB Posted November 14, 2024 Posted November 14, 2024 In spite of its … unique ? … look, I always had a crush for the Frightening. Yours are great, PW 👍 ! I have fond memories of my finished ID Models vac-formed 1/48 F3, that I finished some 30+ years ago, in the same Trebble One markings as yours. It met a sad end, not because it ran short of fuel, but because it was intercepted by a Gee Bee racer, both in the hands of my boys 😂 Hubert 5
GusMac Posted November 14, 2024 Posted November 14, 2024 Nice patchwork finish on the metal surface. Remember 111 Sqn from Leuchars Airshows in the 70s but they were flying the FGR2 by then. 4

The harrier gets a pass. 3
DocRob Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 Glad you found your mojo back with the Lightning, PW. The result is stunning, the NMF fits the brutish beauty perfect. Cheers Rob 3
belugawhaleman Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 Very nice builds! I have to admit, I always liked the looks of the lightning and yours turned out great as did the F4. 2
