On K model both sides should have them.

And the position lights on the side of the fuselage were erased on many K's too. :)

Indeed, also a trademark of all P-40s is the fact that spinner almost covers the data stencil on the root of the blades. Once you see it, you can’t unsee it.

Col. Scott with his K, not E, shows the above mentioned features. A quick note for future victims, Barracuda E decal copied this style of shark mouth.

F always looked a bit pudgy to me. Sort of like how the Nissan R33 Skyline looked like it had spent too much time at the buffet line compared to the previous gen R32.

Ready to start putting down some paint!  Going to preshade all the panel lines first.  But leaving town Thursday and gotta get packed.  So not sure how far I’ll get.

I’ve gotta make a Doctors appointment to get tested for Parkinson’s Disease.   I can’t spray a straight line to save my life.

Done with the bottom gray.  I really don’t like a heavy preshade appearance. I walked a fine line here of completely covering up all of it.

I think one the wash goes on it will hide it some more.

I often wonder if I do everything the hard way.  Spent yesterday’s bench time and probably half of today’s just taping up for the camo paint job.

I took the decal sheet and blew up to pics 200% and 300% to cut out templates.

laid out Tamiya 40mm tape and traced it.

placed it on the model.

Of course not all lines line up, so some fudge factor corrections are made.

once I spray the brown, I’ll line them with ticky tack and cover with tape and spray the OD green.
Im eating through my Tamiya 40mm tape like candy.  Sprue has been out of stock for a while now.   Amazon to the rescue.   Three rolls are supposed to be here tomorrow, which means Saturday at the earliest or Monday.

Some of the frustrations.  Looking at the rudder and vertical stabilizer the green goes down into the horizontal stabilizer. But the art drawings don’t match.

Times like this is when I get frustrated and go kick my cat.

I kid! I kid!

I smack the dog instead.   🤣

Nice finish, Scott, she will be a beauty. I like the way, you transferred the camo scheme.
I originally wanted to recommend Tesa masking tape professional, which I use for this kind of jobs, as it is cheaper than Tamiya kabuki tape, but near as good, but they don´t produce the 40mm wide anymore, it seems. I have some rolls left, but there is only the 25 mm variant available. Only the "professional" variant of masking tape is up to our needs.

tesa® Masking Tape Professional - tesa

Thanks Rob.  You just cost me $25.  🤣

Amazon has this brand and I ordered a roll of the professional and a roll of sensitive. Not sure if those are meant for the surface they’re going on or the end user.  But I qualify for both.  🤪

Oh, and no modeling this morning.  I forgot I have a contractor coming by to recheck all the window measurements we’re getting replaced.   Between old double pain glass with the UV breaking down inside and my discovery of zero insulation in my attic, we’re about to spend a hell of a lot of money on this place.

Oh I know that feeling. We just got a quote to get the space under the kitchen dug out and turned into a usable room. There's currently no foundation under the kitchen. So that's going to be dug up, a foundation wall built and sump pump installed. It will give us a bit more space in the basement and hopefully finally eliminate the risk of our pipes freezing.

It does mean I'm going to have to take down the modelling bench. That could be a real challenge in getting things out away. So I best finish some of the stuff on it.

"double pain glass"

Sometimes a misspelling can nail the situation better than the correct one.....

Does Canada law require an archeologist to be on site for the big dig of your bench?  😇

Tim, you are so right!  But I’m going to lay blame on autocorrect 🤡

I got a very pleasant surprise yesterday with the insulation guys.  Our home has one main large area with a cathedral ceiling in the middle. Kitchen and foyer is in this area as well.  Bedrooms are “wings” on either side of the main area.  Not including making access (I have no attic access in this house) it’s only $1400 to insulate over the bedrooms.
Now the cathedral ceiling area is a different story.  One of the guys thinks they attached the Sheetrock directly to the roof rafters.  He doesn’t think it has a truss system with space above.  They’re going to return with an infrared camera to look for hot spots to see of any insulation was packed between the joists.

If not, they will go up on the roof, remove the two top rows of shingles and cut off the wood and blow it down inside the channels and then button it all back up.  This might get a little costly.
Access to the ceiling area over the bedrooms looks possible by removing the vinyl siding on the front of the house and going through the knee wall above the ceiling.  The walls are 2 foot higher than the inside walls.  Other option was cutting access into a ceiling and patching it up after.
It was nice not having a contractor come out and give me a quote based on the view.  I swear even the simplest things I keep getting $10,000 and up quotes.  Contractors must think we got here by being stupid.

@DocRob  The tape just arrived via Amazon.  You were right.  This stuff is nice and thin, feels just like Tamiya tape too.  The sensitive is the same way but less “stick” to the adhesive.  Just a little more sticky than a post-it note.
