rkranias
This is an interesting clip on The First Air Force One (think Ike). The Lockheed Constellation is one of the most beautiful multi engine a/c designs ever. Truly a multi-role a/c Enjoy

Duffy
I would love to see it in that scale too. Do you know if anyone has made 1/72 scale L-049 aftermarket engines?
ScottsGT
They should donate it to the Smithsonian or the AF Museum. I applaud their efforts, but they’re out gunned by the elements alone. Beautiful and graceful airplane. I do have the three different 1/72 kits put out.

I believe Fisher made some cowlings and improvement parts for the Heller kit, but unfortunately, those are gone with the destruction of Paul’s house and workshop in the Paradise fires. Maybe you can find some on eBay and the likes, but all Fisher items now call for insane prices… HTH, and, btw, Hubert

I saw a video of it the other day where they have it flying now. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KFyq85TliUA
MARU 5137
I LOVE this Lockheed Constellation and knew of its history relating to the President of USA and being named "AIR FORCE ONE". Fascinating history and what a rotten(no pun intended) that it was left to rot and not preserved as a piece of great history. And now seeing the Video that Scott posted gladdens and warms the cockles of MY heart. rkranias's video is interesting to see as well. Thank you both. I built a 1/144 scale of this Gorgeousness of an Aircraft years ago... COLUMBINE is a beautiful, aesthetically pleasing and one heckuva Beauty. Thank you for this lovely thread. Funny you commenting on this Maru as I just came straight from the BBC article you posted about the Brabazon and it definitely has some similarities with the Conny. Lusitanian
Ike’s airplane wasn’t a C-69/L-049, it was an L-749/C-121. AFAIK the only extant C-69/L-049 is the one in TWA markings at Pima, parked near Ike’s C-121.
