Whisky frisky,

Hiply hop,

Up he goes To the tree top!

Whirly, twirly,

Round and round,

Down he scampers To the ground.

Furly, curly,

What a tail,

Tall as a feather, Broad as a sail.

Where's his supper?

In the shell.

Snappy, cracky, Out it fell.

This is the look I am after.

On the reference pictures above are examples of welded turret. We will focus on the colour and wear and tear. :)

Thanks for the kind words(and pictures) guys.  Here is a little drawing distinguishing the difference between above mentioned turret types.

Hi Martin, nice start. I never noticed, that your T-90 is not an -A variant and sporting a cast turret.

Only ten pieces for the Barrel, you should try the Voyager one, which is a mas o menos fifty part affair, with some bending to be done :D.

Cheers Rob

Thank guys. Last night, i broke the barrel in two, in order the turn the ring into the proper position. Yes, I know I was rushing it and now I have to pay the price :).

Rob, the Voyager barrel is very pretty , but it is missing  drainage holes and welding seems, plus it is super straight. Real barrel has a small distortion between the heat-shielding elements , which gives it a very unique look.

Like here.

EDIT : Having said that I just looked into it and Tetra Model Work makes outstanding metal barrel

Hi Martin, the Tetra barrel Looks good and way easier to build than the Voyager one, but I prefer the rendition of the heat mantlet by Voyager, albeit it's a pain to assemble. The angled seamline is reproduceable, because you wind brass tin around the aluminum barrel.

However, mine will recieve a lot of dirt, snow and ice, that enable me to hide every imperfection :D.

Cheers Rob

Thank You Carl, I will try to leak in some interesting info related to the development of T-90.

For example the red eye look of this tank is caused by the Shtora-1 system, that is a electro-optical jammer designed to deal with the semiautomatic command to line of sight anti-tank missiles , laser based range finders etc.. Part of this system are two large IR reflectors, emitting  coded, pulsed IR jamming when the guided missile is detected.

Closely following your WIP, Martin. Keep 'em flying! <arr arr>

I've got two of these tootsies in my stash, T-90 and T-90A. More precisely, that part of my stash that is currently carefully stowed away along with furniture and white goods in a 40ft container waiting to be shipped to NZ. Can't wait to resume bench operations...

Thank You guys for stopping by.

I had few minutes to play last night, so I was trying to resurrect the barrel by drilling out bore, filling the yuckies and sanding, scribing etc. I think it is going to OK.

Turret received some love as well. It is slightly more tedious than I would expect from armour kit, but at the end, she's gonna look so pretty :)

Once again, check out the thermal sleeves all smashed up by elements :)

And here you can see the discolouration caused by replacement of the damaged segments.

Nice! Didn't know that the IR lights were jammers. Figured they were for night fighting. Does give it a distinctive appearance.

Carl

Definitely very good looking layout  :)   And this kit also provides LED illumination of these lanterns .

Best of luck with your move comrade, hopefully everything is going according to your plans as well as the new 5 year plan. Honestly I am blown away by the quality and complexity of this kit. Unimaginable occurrence 15 years ago.
