Grizly
Memories of Transair, here's one that's seen better days.
Administrators Clunkmeister Posted February 5, 2019 Author Administrators Share Posted February 5, 2019 Where is that, Grizly? Dad was Air Force, and Transair DC-3s were our family’s way around the Country back then. I’ve probably spent quite a bit of time in that old girl. They always got us where we were going, and unlike the trains, they were usually on time.
Grizly
The old Transair DC-3 remains was on the west side of Winnipeg airport just to the north of the military hangars. I probably took the picture in the mid to late nineties.

Thanks!
Anthony in NZ
I really love the HpH kit and am still thinking of converting her to this....VX-6 This is the actual bird at the local museum I volunteer at so I can measure up the nose and ski's. Cant afford 2 HpH kits so I will have to think long and hard before I cut the nose off LOL
Anthony in NZ
Oh here she is today... She still needs some tlc, but at least we have got her under cover now and can continue to deal with the last bits of corrosion

HubertB
After fastidious checking that HPH got the nose right (which, just based on pics, I also thought was true, after initial doubts - but HPH may have revised their draft - ), it is quite funny to see you contemplating cutting that very same nose out Just my , of course ... Administrators Clunkmeister Posted February 5, 2019 Author Administrators Share Posted February 5, 2019 She looks like she told a big, fat lie. And the Navy sure was proud to tell everyone who owned her. Come to think of it, they could have made the lettering a bit bigger as well.

Administrators Clunkmeister Posted February 5, 2019 Author Administrators Share Posted February 5, 2019 Yeah, like Paul Harvey sad, "And now, for the rest of the story". There's gotta be 5 feet of wingtip in the snow there. And fully stalled. The next pic probably shows a decidedly nose down attitude. Inside that Dak is the one place on earth I wouldn't want to be at that time.
Martinnfb
Just wanted to add to my post from the January 13. Pictured Li-2 was used as a restaurant, later salvaged for the museum purposes.
Martinnfb
There was another "Dakota" that resonates in my memory. It use to sit by the highway near to my hometown Bratislava. There was a time when it was also used as a restaurant, but the way I remember her was when she looked like this There was a fire inside set by gypsies using it as a party shelter twice. In 1987 she was taken to scrap yard. Her last "operational" picture

Jeff
I wonder if there are any flying Li2's in the world, now that would be a cool site and a rare bird eh??
