BlrwestSiR
I just did a dry fit of the forward fuselage to the rear and I think I may have a fit issue... Of course it lines up just fine underneath. 2 3

Just flip it over, it will be 'fine'.... or else, maybe say that your F-14 is channeling the old F-8 Crusader? 2

BlrwestSiR
I stuck a piece of sprue in between the two halves. It spreads them apart enough but I think I'm at the limit before something breaks/cracks. The fire/aft gap I can close up with a bit of pinching so it looks like I won't have to find a Mig-28.
CANicoll
Nice work!!! A little bit of sheet styrene and you are set. Did you figure out what caused the gap? 3
BlrwestSiR
Chris, I think the upper fuselage was warped. The one I built earlier was a bit off but nothing as bad.

Warp parts just go to show someone in production was way too much in a hurry and we ultimately always have to pay the tab.

Also could be the age of the kit. I’ve built a few older Revell kits and one thing I have noticed is the larger surface areas tend to warp over time with their kits. My last F-14 had the same issue as Carls did. The VX-4 bird I built years back fit together like a puzzle. It suckered me into a second 🤪 Years ago I got my hands on an old 1/72 space shuttle kit. Might have been a Monogram. But it sat in an attic, in South Carolina for only God knows how long. It was literally unbuildable. No amount of clamps or rubber bands would pull it back into shape.
Peterpools
Thanks Scott, Great point, I never thought about the warping being caused by storage issues.
BlrwestSiR
Peter, I think Scott hit the nail on the head. The kit is from when MRC still distributed Tamiya in the US which was I think the mid '80s. So it's definitely an oldie.

BlrwestSiR
All those lovely Ford pics Martin posted made me want to build one. So here's a flat head V-8 This is for the Thunder Models LRDG patrol truck. The axles has separate shackles. Craziness.

PanzerWomble
&...........went for the build it in 6 hours approach , will finish it off in the morning .... ......it's all a good warm up for the winter glueing season for me . Too many stalled builds earlier this year made me loose interest . 5
