Administrators Clunkmeister Posted April 23, 2019 Administrators Share Posted April 23, 2019 I'm looking to do a Fisher F9F-8 Cougar in Blue Angels colors. I know the Blue Angels blue has changed over the years, so, does anyone know what would be the correct mix for the era the Blue Angels flew the Grumman Cougar?

Administrators Clunkmeister Posted April 24, 2019 Author Administrators Share Posted April 24, 2019 Not for the early years. The color was mixed by whomever was outfitting the new fleet. The color apparently changed dramatically throughout the early years. The Panthers were apparently two parts Insignia Blue and one part Insignia White. Apparently the Cougars were noticeably lighter.

Martinnfb
According to that article it's painted in the 1:2 mix of Blue, with the 1:3 Orange Yellow mix. Then a drop of a pure dolphin juice and two cats tails will do.

Blue Angels F9F-8 colouring according to Grumman Aircraft Engineering Corp. Drawing SP10106: "Blue Angels Blue, 1:2 Mix" = 1 part Insignia White, 2 parts Insignia Blue (Grumman Panthers used the earlier, slightly darker 1:3 mix) "Orange Yellow, 1:2 Mix" = 1 part Insignia White, 2 parts Orange Yellow (ANA 506 aka FS 13538 after 1956) Interesting article on Tommy H. The perfect stablemate for the 1968 428 CJ... I'd be all in, but the DCA said no. It's got to be a pre-1970 convertible, she said... Now I've got the blues...

I just threw mine in to be a jerk... I have blue clothes and have had blue cars... all with a bigger interest toward being less eye-catching. But I like RED!
