  1. ha ha - midget RAF personnel! Maybe they are scaled down too?
  2. thank you both for the explanation i now see what you both mean FSchmitt - your English is fine cheers Nick
  3. hmmm well i was about to have an anti Profimodeller rant when i tried to look at some references Wikipedia (don't laugh) says these things were 140cm in real life, which makes them 58mm in 1/24 so who is right?? personally, i don't trust any of these three at this point, and will wait for someone who is close to a museum or has pictures of one being measured to see what size these things should be also: The rocket body was a steel tube 3 inches (76 mm) in diameter, hence the name. this translates as 3.16mm in 1/24...so how does that measure up? either way, not touching these at the moment the benchmark for how this kit is ***perceived*** will be whether the big guns of Eduard make anything for it, and whether the very picky about what kits he makes stuff for Roy Sutherland get involved... cheers N
  4. i really fancy this kit my only qualm is the wheel wells utterly devoid of detail - they look like a 1/72 kit i don't have any references either way, but have to think there should be *something* in there i want to build one of these as a favourite pilot of mine, Neville Duke, 'crossed swords' with quite a few of these over the African desert looking forward to seeing more progress pics what scheme are you doing? thanks for sharing
  5. welcome to LSM interesting comments not that i disbelieve you, but rather to show us what you mean, can you provide images of what you describe? quoting books when challenging something rather than showing also seems a little 'unsporting' as to 'any good internet walkaround', well that's half the problem isn't it? most walkarounds are of either warbirds or - forgive me for taking your name in vain - 'Frankenschmitts' with various parts from different aircraft, often matched inappropriately btw i have no affiliation with Roy, but having reviewed lots of his stuff, I know that the vast majority is well researched and accurate, hence my default setting with his stuff would be 'show me' / prove otherwise cheers nick
  6. Nige I had a look at my kit and couldn't see anything, but I'd like to make sure Can you post a picture of what you mean, or perhaps easier just tell me the part number(s) affected? Cheers Nick
  7. exquisite as always Mike I would like to see the pics as black and white / 'oldiefied'(!) i reckon that would look very cool if you could photoshop some frayed edges etc
  8. DW-Q is in the Eagle Cals set, rather than DW-K http://www.hannants.co.uk/product/EAG32157 haven't done too much research on that one, but the undersides are black / sky i think (not white), with no underwing roundels could be wrong though, and I don't have the EagleCals set usual 'defer to Edgar' rider etc etc!
  9. Generally speaking, I think Eduard did some / do some, and maybe Montex? I am not sure whether specifically for this kit, but they would be a good a place to start
  10. nice one Dave - they should give you a discount Doogs - that's precisely what I mean, and that's without talking about their resin sets, many of which I just cannot fathom
  11. beautiful stuff Frank! am i right in thinking some Typhoons had unshrouded cannons - or am i thinking of a different aircraft altogether? if so, i hope Master do some more appropriate barrels but your use of them is excellent - good call
  12. ok they are £27 from Hannants (plus shipping) price is £20ish from Profi direct - who I assume have them in stock whilst Hannants do not - but I have no idea what shipping and taxes are i would post a direct url link pic but Profi have disabled that, and I cannot be ar$ed to do the whole photobucket thing you would think that they would just water mark the pic, and be glad that people want to advertise their stuff for free? they also do not have an instruction booklet link, so I am definitely going to sit and wait still, at a glance from a pic, they do look nice just waiting on wheels, and maybe some resin bits for the cockpit perhaps
  13. With some of the dubious reviews I have seen about Profimodeller stuff, as much as I want these, I will wait for someone to 'do the honours'... How much are they btw?
  14. strange markings (any 109 not in Luftwaffe garb is strange in my book!), but beautiful finish what a shame you guys didn't get round to finishing this still, what you have done combined with the review tells most people more than enough I reckon bookmarked for when I get round to building one of these cheers guys
  15. looking very good - and yes it does look massive!
  16. Great pick ups guys Rick: I doubt you'll be seeing any aftermarket for the 410, or any other HPH kits for that matter Just no money in it with such a minuscule production run
  17. Exactly - is there going to be anything in the book that won't be on the forums and better and in more detail and by people who know more about the typhoon and whom you can ask questions etc etc?? If the answer to any of those questions is yes, or if you absolutely must have a walk through guide ASAP, then fair enough But personally I'll give it a miss
  18. I have the same crack, if you'll pardon the expression!
  19. Hi Dave You sure about that? I had the kit plus CMK pit a while back (now sold) and am sure i remember dry fitting pit and fuselage and the resin pit is markedly deeper : set lower down than the kit pit Am I going nuts? On second thoughts, don't answer that N
  20. Hi Cees I will leave it to the pros (I am retired!! ) but I do think it is a very good kit and am pleased with my purchase Dave hi mate Yes sadly my canopy had a tiny hairline crack where it attaches to the sprue I have emailed Airfix (last night) and will let you know what they say I imagine I am in a long queue! Cheers N
  21. Ok so having had a look (briefly) through the kit, here is what I will wait for before thinking about building it - turned brass gun barrels; the kit ones ask you to take a 0.9mm drill bit and hollow out the barrel ends yourself - now even if you were happy to build OOTB, on a kit this complex I would not expect this; I think this is a bit slack by Airfix - resin wheels; the usual story - resin ones are just cleaner, sharper and have greater detail - Eduard instrument panel; not a fan of decals here, but that's just personal choice; I will wait on seeing the Airscale decals 'in action' and maybe change my mind? - masks for roundels (Maketar probably make some of these already?) and some more schemes - **proper** turned brass landing gear; kit oleos are split in two part, and will have the inevitable seam line; I would also feel more comfortable having something more sturdy given the size of this kit
