  1. It's a great kit Bomb racks are significantly better than their He111 counterparts, but I would still recommend using resin ones - I have the MDC selection and they are very good
  2. Hi guys Title says it all... What would one need to change / add to the Revell G-6 to make a G-14 AS? Or better off getting the Hasegawa kit? Cheers Nick
  3. All we need now is the ability to make the krebs gerat rear firing thingy, as seen on some Fw190 Sturmboks... Very cool news indeed!!! Could we use this thread to post a few pics of either 109s or 190s with these (the ones announced by Eduard) fitted??
  4. Out of interest, what markings are (already) out there for this variant? There is the old Cutting Edge set 32060 with the nice chequers which may or may not still be available... Also, any books that focus on the Erla G-10? Did Japo do anything for instance?
  5. Fantastic news on the Kate and the Val!!! One cautious question: what do you use for your canopies? I am vac-form-phobic at the best of times... I have built the Kate in *ahem* a smaller scale and it has a LOT of glasswork!

Yup Steve Have to agree with what the others said Although mask providers abound, you can forget custom decal manufacturers at a realistic cost eg one scheme for say the price of a whole sheet seems to be roughly what a custom mask might cost I guess if it were that easy pretty much every scheme would be available in 1/32 There are quite a few subjects which frustratingly only exist in smaller scales, and require decals rather than / as well as masks Nick
  7. At the risk of sounding VERY stupid, this new kit - is it the so-called '110 cowling'? For those not familiar, here is a paragraph from a Scott van Aitken build and, whilst I am sure any inaccuracies can be pointed out, hopefully it at least clarifies what I am on about! "The G-10 did have two different types of cowlings. The real way to tell the difference between the two is to look at the left side of the fuselage just under the windscreen. The most common type had a fairing that curved on the underside. This is the 'type 100' cowling. If you have built the Revell 1/48 Bf-109G-10, or the new Hasegawa 1/32 Bf-109G-10, then you've built one with the type 100 cowling. The other, which is what is on this conversion, is 'taller' and flat. It does not have a curve and extends the full height of the fuselage. These 'type' numbers were not used by the factory but are a concoction of Jean-Claude Mermet, who did the ground breaking research on this several years back." Answers on a postcard please (as they used to say a LONG time ago!)
  8. Fair question! Perhaps to help narrow things a bit: Presumably we are talking 'factory fresh'? Allowing for scale factor or not? And most importantly, which company?? Eg Tamiya, Gunze, Lifecolor etc? Cheers Nick
  9. Hey Rick! Nice one I have this kit and will be doing a similar bird 2 questions: 1. have you got pics of this with the bazookas? I really like them but found it hard to find a plane I am interested in with them mounted 2. What are you basing you scratch build of the bazookas on? Do you have plans proving the kit ones are way short? Not disagreeing with you, just interested in what the motivation is... Looking forward to more!! N
  10. hi Nige don't have a definitive answer for you but most stuff that was meant to be painted did get painted ie grey over the oxide etc - it was only at the end of the war that some of this started to change re turnbuckles etc, i think Aber make pretty much all the clasps and what not you might need - even hinges - but ability with micro teeny weeny (a technical term you understand) PE bits is a pre-requisite Nick

  12. ZM Uhu or maybe Tamiya Corsair... In armour I suppose one of the WWI releases - that field is increasing but are any of them simply stellar kits? In my opinion not. The 1/16 Tiger really is not that good - it is big, but simply not very accurate. So, lots of very good kits across many genre, but to be honest I would struggle to pick a couple which are just mega 'wow' for me...
  13. 2 or 4 for me You know they now have an E-2 Trop version out? Just hasn't hit the UK yet I have the Vasco ref book on the 110 which is the business on all early versions of this bird, so let me know if you need anything Dave If you have any tech questions about the plane or markings John Vasco is your man though - he is a member here I believe Cheers Nick

Nige Just one request on my part: price please Whilst it would be nice to review and model in 'financial vacuum' unfortunately for 99% of us cost is a consideration For me quality of product is considered alongside price in order to make up my mind That applies equally to my reviewing and to my modelling Thanks again for bringing your reviews here - really good to see them All the best Nick

Hey Nige Thanks for the review I cannot help but think that when shelling out lots of money on aftermarket (remind us again how much this is?) that resin barrels are just not the way to go My guess is that the detail freaks will probably buy this, and then buy master barrels on top... That's a lot of dosh The resin does look nice, but for me half this set is in the wrong medium Thanks again for bringing your reviews here - whether I agree with your conclusions or not, I really like them Nick
