  1. I've got the Tritium GS and it's superb, I can't say enough good things about it. Quality is outstanding, it does everything well and Grex's customer service is excellent. The standard needle is .3 mm which covers most peoples needs. I use the .2 mm because of the amount of mottling I do on LW birds but if you do use this needle you'll have to use a paint that you can thin down a lot, I use Mr. Color which goes down great thin but other paints sometimes give me trouble.
  2. That's a project I'd like to do as well. I'm thinking that the next G-10 will be Erla only though, hopefully we'll see WNF and Regensburg G-10's a little later.
  3. This one has been quite a journey, Iain. Glad you can see the light at the end of the tunnel, looks stunning!
  4. True, which is why I despise these guys!
  5. If you're truly looking for a scare I'll pull out some of my early efforts! I fight a constant battle with post shading panel lines, I like the effect but never seem to be able to pull it off subtly enough to be satisfied with it. I've got Trumpeter and 21st CT Stukas in the stash, maybe I'll pull out one for the Junkers GB. Very nice though, and you gotta' love those Revell golf ball sized rivets!
  6. Love it, Dave! That weathering and "dirtying up" you've done on the underside is amazing, great stuff!
  7. That is gorgeous! Perfect job of capturing the late war Luftwaffe look.
  8. I do for touch ups, but it doesn't seem to work well for large areas. Mr. Color is an acrylic lacquer so I don't think it attacks plastic the same way regular lacquer does but I've never got good results hand brushing it. Maybe someone else has some a trick though.
  9. This is a "must get" for me!
  10. But how much for the addition to the house to display it?! Nice score!
  11. I'm a graduate of the USAF's Electronic Warfare Center High Reliablity Soldering School. Unfortunately what I do in real life is more like "the bigger the glob the better the job!" Steve's advice is very good, a variable temperature soldering is mandatory. Experiment and practice!
  12. That's absolutely what I was getting, at this point Mr. Color RLM 82 is the only option though. I'm going to proceed with the toothpaste method, I changed my base color to Floquil Old Silver in the hopes that might be a little more durable as well.
  13. Tim, I'll be happy to take a look in Tokyo next time I'm up there, might be a few weeks though.
  14. Gorgeous, great subject and markings!!!
  15. Great stuff guys, thanks! And Paul, your constant encouragement is a never ending source of inspiration for me!
  16. Man, that's great stuff!
  17. I'll probably pick up one of these, but unless it's really good that will be it. I've got two EagleParts Erla conversion sets in the stash already.
  18. Thanks for the input, guys. I may have not given the paint enough time to set up. Mr. Color dries pretty quickly but I did remove the mask fairly soon after the paint was applied. I don't think I can get Vegemite in Japan but maybe Vaseline might work? Should be easy to apply and just wipe off when it's done. Yeah that may have contributed as well, we'll see if I'm coordinated enough to pull that off!
