Eduard/Hasegawa P-40N on the bench
Anthony in NZ replied to JohnB's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
She likely had the green patches on the wings when still in the Islands, but cant be 100% positive on that, this is NZ3264 -

No don't do that John, that was when she arrived back in NZ and got repainted and displayed around the country, the gave her 'FE' Sqn codes as well, don't replicate those either -

As I said, not very exciting... Cant remember which set of wings he said were Glorias (but they are her originals he said), pretty sure they were the lower ones. Remember she had been repainted here so the original Grey is the one you want to look at not the duck egg blue-ish colour Also note again, Foliage Green was sprayed over the upper surfaces, so hard to see the original greens properly Repainted and faded roundels... Wheel well canvas liners... I thought I had some more of her in the Islands, will have another look as they are ptobably in a wrong folder somewhere! Hope they are of some interest Cheers Anthony -

Ok here we go...time for a photobomb. Apologies if some have already seen some and also I cant credit all pics as some I have had for decades! This one looks doctored to highlight the Japanese flags -

OK let me see what I can dig out. I have some others of her in service that might be interesting. John, do you plan on her scheme in the Islands or when she got back to NZ after the war? The ones of her in the 'shed' might be disappointing as she is tucked well away and there id no lighting. The wings are outside and are better. -

Excellent choice John! This particular combat vet still survives at a property about 4 1/2 hours drive from me. An elderly gent owns it along with another P-40E, Dh Mosquito, Mustang etc.... All in a big shed. Unfortunately her wings are stacked outside, but you can se the battle repair patches still on her! I will definitely be following along, I have thought of doing this particular bird too Cheers Anthony -

Awesome project, and as always Martin just finds those obscure images that we never knew existed! Civvie Mustangs are awesome, I have one to build as the MOBIL Mustang that was here in NZ for the family who used to own it. Look forward to your progress Cheers Anthony

1/32 Trumpeter Avenger help needed
Anthony in NZ replied to jep1210's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
Hi John, might we see a WIP on this? Just love the Avenger, I have some spares as well as mine will be an RNZAF TBF-1 Target Tug and so wont need any turret parts, in case you stuff anything LOL I have just filled all the rivet holes in my fuselage, however I am not sure it was worth all that effort in the end. Nothing a heavy coat of Mr Surfacer sanded back wouldn't have sorted....oh well -
Yep, ANOTHER CORSAIR!
Anthony in NZ replied to JohnB's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
Wonderful work John! Might we see an RNZAF one sometime?? Keep up the inspiring job mate -
Oh here she is today... She still needs some tlc, but at least we have got her under cover now and can continue to deal with the last bits of corrosion

I really love the HpH kit and am still thinking of converting her to this....VX-6 This is the actual bird at the local museum I volunteer at so I can measure up the nose and ski's. Cant afford 2 HpH kits so I will have to think long and hard before I cut the nose off LOL

Pleasure mate. I am happy to help along the way when you get going. There are a couple of panels that need filling in the lower wing also. I am struggling not to go back and finish her off low...LOL -

Hi Ron, the -5 fuse is quite different in the proportions forward of the windscreen compared to the -2. You cant just put a -5 (modified ) cowl on a -2. I really studied it a lot at the time. I think there was a place called J-Aircraft?? That was quite helpful at the time -

LOL...I do mate, I do! Ron, not much mate. I think from memory it was just squaring up the opening a bit, pretty easy Funnily enough I was working on wiring up the area behind the engine a few weeks ago. -
