  1. Lolololol @Martin.
  2. The seat isn’t done and I have yet to build a mount for it, but it will feature a comfy cushion, because late 50s, early 60s RCAF SAR birds featured plenty of store bought seat cushions to fill the space meant for a parachute. I’ll make a cushion out of Milliput because that thing looks like a plank. It was peacetime and the old Lanc wasn’t going to go round and round with a Soviet submarine. They had the Neptune and the brand new Canadair Argus coming on line for those fights. Be kind. I realize most of this won’t be seen when the canopy is on. So no, I didn’t get goofy with the details or the filling of the floor seam. The RCAF Lanc has a solid canopy to, so it’ll be even less visible
  3. I also tried blacking out the rear of the pedestal. I’m thinking that after some doctoring up, through the birdcage it’ll pass for the open space that was there on the real ship. Maybe
  4. Alrighty then. A small update on this. I’ve been playing around with some green tones. I don’t like the RAF interior green they give us in a bottle, so I’ve been mixing a bit of interior green into the RAF stuff until I came up with this. I think it looks convinced enough to me, so I’m going with it. I’ve seen pics of a non skid walkway on these, so I added one. I’ll shorten it up a bit, but this is as it is right now. It’s way to stark for me I think I’ll hit it with my old black standby, RLM66. All I’ve done for mods is to lower the pilot’s pedestal to slightly less freeboard, mess with the seat to where it’s ok, and add the bare minimum of missing plumbing, plus holders for maps and the “How to Fly an Aeroplane” book. Comments welcome
  5. And 17 cats.
  6. This must be the oddest kit I’ve ever run across. It’s a neat subject, but I have no idea how or even if, it builds. I. Don’t think I’ve ever seen one built.
  7. Agree with Hubert on the gear legs. It’s a combination of the subtle that makes a truly world class build. Model on, Sir Nige.
  8. Not Viktor the Cleaner?
  9. John, back I come to this and here I stay for awhile, soaking it all in. One thing. Be very, very careful of that Alclad clear. I’ve used it on occasion, and it never, ever really dries. After 4 years, my Gotha is STILL tacky and will show fingerprints. On the advice of Brian (Outgtcha) in the other site, I switched to MM lacquers, and they are absolutely idiot proof, so I’m safe.
  10. I learned the Cyrillic “alphabet” as a young kid. I should brush up on it and be able to speak almost English, in code.
  11. Martin knows Kavorknik. I expect Ivan does now as well. Lololol
  12. This is an awesome thread guys. Nige, your Lanc is going to be brilliant, and Martin, what can I say? Nige, my good friend Martin has been documenting my builds with pictures previously unseen in the West for more years than I care to admit. The man’s a veritable fountain of the obscure. Every single last build I’ve needed documentation on, Martin, UNASKED, has gone to his crazy search engine and library, and given me priceless pictures. I’m in continuous and lifelong debt and awe.
  13. Not much happening here, just a bit of playing around with this. Obviously when I break out the brass, piano wire and evergreen, the build is about to go full on stupid. I must resist. OOB, OOB, OOB.....
  14. LOL. Tried a dreaded wingtip tonight. Installed the spacer first, then th aileron spar. Tip fit OK. Not perfect, but OK. A bit of sanding and a skim of filler on the seam should make it perfect. I hope the other side is as nice.
  15. Tee hee hee, Lanc was supposed to be “Almost OOB”. Ha! Whatever does that mean? Lots of minor kitbashing going on, but nothing too severe. Cockpit’s actually looking good, but I’m filling the multitude of EPMs. I refuse to not let this build be serious fun, so I won’t be going silly chasing little furry rodents that collect acorns for a living.
  16. I love the oddbal postwar 109s. I’d like to do both the Hisso and Merlin variant, and they would have to be Spanish.
  17. People waving pictures of Hawker Hurricanes in front of me get's me all worked up. I love that aircraft!
  18. Now this is fixin' to be positively interesting. It's conversion I've definitely been eyeing... But it's looking like they may be sold out??
  19. Agreed Peter. It’s definitely a very nice kit, and OOB, it builds into an awesome model when finished. But that cowl and engine assembly confounds me.
  20. I have two. Not many, but two very special rifles. A 1963 C1A1, and a 1957 US Military T48 trials rifle. C1A1 is inch pattern, T48 is metric, very similar to a Belgian. Plus enough goodies to make a Brit L1A1
  21. The Rhodies are the absolute Holy Grail to us FAL collectors. Or, I should say, genuine Rhodies. Baby poop green with that odd, almost homemade camo job. Because all FALs, including the inch pattern, had a safety sear, they’re classified as “machine guns” by the ATF here in the USA, meaning the upper receiver needs to be deactivated before entering the USA. Usually that means a hacksaw cutting the upper in half, rendering it useless. That means you get what’s called a “kit”here in the USA. You buy the rifle with a cut upper, then replace it with a locally produced upper without the safety sear cutout on the pivot hinge. There are plenty of G1 kits in the USA, but you usually build them with approved Imbel uppers, Imbel being an FN subsidiary, it’s still all FN, but you lose the capability of the “happy switch”. Not that it matters, I’ve yet to see anyone hit something with a shoulder fired FAL on full auto. A 10 lb noisemaker is all you get. The Commonweath had it right: semi-auto fire only. One pull, one round. Make your rounds count, none of this M16 spray and pray garbage.
