Maru is here! Yippee! The Rat Pack’s getting back together

Let’s revive this thread. Many here know me from my TOS days, and like Jeroen, I’m a shootist and collector of historically significant firearms. Main interests lie in the FN FAL and it’s numerous variants, plus Georg Luger’s masterpiece, the incomparable P08, and last but not least, the firearms of the old American West. (Think Quigley Down Under, Clint Eastwood and John Wayne type stuff. Plus I’m been an avid motorcyclist my entire life, and also enjoy dabbling in 1950’s American automobiles.

65, but who’s counting. Seriously, next year will be P-51B for sure and Kingfisher as well if time allows. 2020 will be either RCAF Canso or USN Catalina. And that 1/48 scale PB4J-2 was a truly flawless and stunning build build. -
B24 Liberator in 1/32 scale...

Oh please give me a Curtiss C-46 and a Beech C-45 -
Mike, for me at least, in the past, GBs ended up being anticlimactic. We’d be all kinds of excited and in the end,.. nothing. I’ve really only had fun on one GB, and that was the Vietnam GB on LSP. I’ve never done one here, but over there, GBs just seem to end with no real hoopla. Big fanfare to start, and ho hum in the end. Maybe some judging or drawing at the end for all who finish to receive a prize? I mentioned that on The Other Site (TOS) and it was blown off as silly and wasteful. I think that if a popular theme with some cool ending prize is offered, (I’d even offer up a kit or two as prizes to get it all started) it’ll not only get good participation, but probably even drive traffic to the site. Thoughts?

It can be entered in the regular 1/32 prop class. Nothing’s stopping you from doing that. It’s what I intend with my Guppy conversion and Israeli Bf-109. -

Jerry Rutman P-51B build
Clunkmeister replied to Clunkmeister's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
Smitty, it looks like he wing walked it down the runway, alternating between the nose and the wingtips. Not bad as far as ground loops go. I’ve seen worse. But still a good view of the underside. -

As a dedicated 1/32 scale prop builder, I’ve found myself tight on space after accounting for 1/32 B-17, B-24, B-25, Lancaster, DC-3, PBY, etc, and I decided modern jets will be served fine in 1/48. Modern grey and blue jets are not my first love, but they do need building. F-14s, Su-27s, Phantoms, EE Lightnings = waaaay to big for 1/32 and are served well in 1/48, for me anyways. I catch it constantly from friends over this, so go for it and lay it on thick, y’all. I’m a traitor!

It’s one I’d like, but just too big for my plans right now.

Clunkmeister replied to Clunkmeister's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
Thanks guys. This is a real dust making project. The entire thing is resin, including the AM. Fun and games. I’ll try to do Jerry’s creation proud. -
Congrats, Rick. It’s awesome they gave you neat keepsake trophys. I like winning when the awards are unique and thought out.
-
Typical Trumpeter, John. Build what you can see. The rest goes in the spares box
-
John, as per normal, you’re putting on a clinic here. All I can say is BRING IT!
-
That’s looking great, John!

Dang Buddy, what a punch in the gut. You’re in our thoughts, Harv. I know I don’t have to say that cuz you know, but I did anyway.
-
Well, last year I did a resin P-63, three 1/32 T-28’s, and Wingnut’s Felixstowe. So it CAN be done....
