  1. Oh Man, this was cool... The same aircraft departed Sydney this afternoon on her last flight to the Arizona Boneyard, but on the way drew a QANTAS kangaroo logo in the sky... S
  2. Or... A Wife is the one cause you should be happy to take a knee for. S
  3. Washing... Ironing... Food... and, er "Entertainment"!
  4. Just superb work all around Peter. Inspirational to watch. S
  5. No Harv, haven't seen him here since April. Although he's known to disappear for a time, it's concerning in the current environment. I've searched for Male statistics from Newtown in the Covid data, but have come up short. But if anything were to happen to him, it might not even be Covid... I don't know if the extensive bombardment his immune system was subjected to even allows him to make new T-cells to fight off even the common cold. Note that I'm referring to Dale in the present tense. Hoping he's still around but just laying low. The Border between Queensland and New South Wales... This entry point in the Rabbit-proof fence isn't usually Manned, especially on weekends; so you just shut the gate behind you as you pass, as you would do on any other Rural property. This is a FWD-only track that loops into the neighbouring State for a half hour jaunt and turns back north without accessing any other main roads. So it's clear the Authorities aren't taking any chances in keeping the border closed here. S
  6. I heard 'Raus!' on almost a daily basis growing up, but my Grandfather never once wrote it down! S
  7. I think the technique is sound Carl, but the colour is perhaps a little too rich. The sleepers would be out in all weathers, and would look a little faded and dried rather than dark and 'wet' like they do. S
  8. Then add a camera pod on an outer wing ETC rack, and call it ice build-up!
  9. I'm very sorry for your loss Brad, and for your Friend's family of course. Hopefully at the time restrictions were such that they could all have gathered safely to mourn his passing. A Mate and a Husband and Father, but unfortunately to many just a mere statistic or an unintended consequence of not taking this thing seriously. My condolences... Steve
  10. Health Authorities have traced an outbreak in a Pub in New South Wales to a single Man from Victoria, who visited on June 30th and was asymptomatic at the time. A single person has so far infected 35 people. The Queensland border is now closed to all Victorians; but there was a mass exodus of Retirees, vacationing Families and job seekers in a headlong rush to leave Victoria, without any consideration of the consequences to anyone but themselves. This is exactly what our State Government was anticipating and trying to avoid. Queensland (along South Australia and Western Australia) were roundly criticised by the New South Wales and Victorian Governments for keeping their borders closed. Now it seems as if they were justified. 317 new cases in Victoria yesterday, many of them in Hospitals and Nursing Homes, and an unabated and very worrying upward curve. S
  11. If I had the brass option, I'd graft them on Harv... S
  12. ...out of Brisbane (YBBN) is currently in progress. An hour long tour over the City, costing $747 for First Class, and $400 for Economy. Goodbye old Girl.. S
  13. SOP these days so far as advertising techniques go... In late June, Mazda teased a short video online about a new model release; a week later it turned out to be a new AWD turbo Mazda3 variant to be made in Mexico for the North American market, that may not be manufactured in right hand drive so might never come to Australia. Quite a few here on the Mazda Forums a little disappointed with that let me tell you. S
  14. Skipton-on-Swale is the Airfield of operations. You'll probably find that they've not used that nasty "V" word because it's likely to trigger someone in this day and age. The Australian War Memorial site my photo is from, features a warning whenever you go there, that the site "May include images of War..." Imagine that!
  15. Ditto... Not my usual subject matter either, but the lure of the iconic is strong with this one. Also nice to have confirmation from those in the know, rather than the rambling threads elsewhere, featuring... "Oh, I'm getting one, but I don't know what it is, and I don't know when I'll be getting it..." S
  16. Lovely detail work there Peter, I myself am trying (without much luck) to replicate this in styrene for a Hasegawa 1/32 kit. I should mention though, that the FW190 wheel wells were not completely flat horizontal in the top section, but tapered into the centre somewhat, and moreso towards the front of the airframe. This was to enable enough clearance for FW to be able to fit the BMW radial motor into the space. However; for this prototype, and much like the later on-line engines D series, I'm not entirely certain the wheel well would have had a roof to it. S
  17. I was just wondering... When you're wearing your mask, and you need to sneeze... Do you whip your mask off and sneeze into your shoulder or elbow, or do you leave it on and snot into the mask, thereby ruining it? And does a sneezing fit of 3 or more change the decision? I'm finding it difficult to get consensus. S
  18. And then he nuts you one for looking sideways at him. See you Jimmy!
  19. This seems like a situation that could have been avoided with a little more communication and patience. What it probably didn't need is the interjection of a third party who probably should have stayed in the background. If you're not named, then there's no point getting upset because there's no possible way anyone can know that you are being referred to. But to come onto an open Forum, and take pot shots at someone just because they took pot shots at you is just bad form. I don't know what your behaviour is like on LSP, and frankly I don't care. This kind of thing is generally not acceptable here. S
  20. Just like Thunnus has done; only open up the wingtop gun cover, add the guns, unhinged the ammo case cover behind the rear wall. Basically, gut it like a Fish, then shove it all back in. S
  21. It's just to show you the positioning Harv... But if you're game to try, I'll walk you through it. It'll be fun, trust me! S
  22. At under $10, that's fantastic value for that Quickboost set. S
  23. Yes that's it Jeff, A gusset or brace for longitudinal stability. There is a lot of flexing and movement with so much weight up high, well all over the vehicle actually when it's travelling over uneven surfaces. Newer trucks seem to sit higher, and not straddling the tunnel like the kit instructions show. This is the Freightliner COE now, looking at the front right wheel; note the longitudinal bracing provided now. You asked about intakes and exhausts... The regs here used to specify exhaust had to exit on the right side, away from possible Pedestrian traffic on footpaths, but I'm not sure now. Most Prime Movers have the intakes elevated and in front or the opposite side to the exhaust stacks, smaller and general duty Trucks behind the Cab in the negative air generated there. Volvo FM Cab on the line, without aero kit or exhaust at this stage. Volvo FH showing exhaust, and how the intake fits inside the aero kit on the left... Volvos here run to Euro 5 specs so have reduced particulate matter (e.g. soot!) Mack Trident on the line... For some reason, the canisters on the intakes above are unpainted. Usually, they are the Cab colour, as on this Superliner. Having the intakes up high certainly helps keep the dust out, but the canisters also contain filters specifically for this reason. This is the top rear of our Freightliner COE for Danny, single exhaust and opposite side intake. Finally I mentioned weight distribution and chassis flex before... This photo is a good illustration. The Volvo FH from before turning left, note how the rear of the chassis is following the camber of the road, but the top of the Cab is swaying opposite towards the right as the Truck executes the turn. You always have to factor in body roll, especially when negotiating obstacles above your eyeline. S
