  1. Thanks to the Polio vaccine, it is rarely seen these days I tell this to every Anti-Vaxer I meet; My Mother's twin brother died from Polio at age 6, because there was no vaccine available at the time. But for chance and the Grace of God, I would never have been born. I guess it's all a matter of perspective. Victoria is getting up to 100 cases a day now, and the concern is great enough to have Police in surrounding States stopping vehicles at the border with Victorian registration and denying them thoroughfare. Furthermore; 57,000 people is the entire population of the regional Town I grew up in. Every Man, Woman and Child. That seriously boggles my mind. S
  2. My best guess for the triangular cross member would be inside the tunnel of the Cab in roughly this position. I think I see it partially hidden here in this Cab shell photo. S
  3. My sincere condolences to both you and Joy, S
  4. This was the advice from my Doctor as well. Queensland hasn't had a confirmed case of community transmission for a few weeks now, so it's highly unlikely I contract the Virus, even though there are certainly asymptomatic cases still about. The Australian plan was always to control the spread, and not eliminate it entirely like the New Zealand approach. As such, Australia is still allowing it's Nationals return from overseas. When they do so, the advice is to have them quarantine for 14 days, whether they show symptoms or not. Until a fortnight ago, most of our cases were from these retuning travellers. Each State has slightly different rules; New South Wales quarantines them in Hotels, and if tested positive they go to a specific Hotel to be isolated there. In Queensland, if you test positive you go to a Hospital until negative. Every other State has either Police or Military overseeing this quarantine regimen. Except Victoria. Victoria, and Melbourne specifically, is having real problems at the moment. Private Security was hired to police the quarantine, and their staff received little to no training. It transpired that security were escorting people to to go shopping, taking bribes to turn a blind eye to deliberate absences, and in some cases having sex with people who should have been completely isolated. Subsequently, Melbourne now has serious issues with community transmission after all of the hard work and sacrifices of the rest of the Australian States. Victorians are now banned from the other States except for extenuating circumstances. The populations of some 30 - 40 Melbourne suburbs are locked down for the next 5 days. Football teams that have been playing to empty stadiums in Melbourne are now relocating to other States, where the weather is warmer and limited crowds are allowed to attend matches. Pubs, Clubs and Cinemas have finally been re-opened here from last Friday. Thankfully, everything has been subdued and people seem to be sensible about these new freedoms. Here's hoping... S
  5. No problem Danny... Here's some more. Freightliner Cabover now, from the tail lights looking forward. Strut on the axle top goes the opposite way on this American-made truck. All of these chassis' have the wiring bundles on the inside of the left chassis rail, no matter the manufacturer. Freightliner front axle looking from the right side, just behind the fifth wheel. Freightliner wiring around the auxiliary spring brake. Rear of the Freightliner COE And a view from the right side, showing one of the four mounting points of the cab to the chassis, as well as the motor; a 600hp Cummins in this case even though it's painted red. Now, an example of a lifted axle, in this case the forward of the rear three on a Volvo Tipper. And finally, this is a 1980 Mack Tipper. You can see the spring brakes at the rear where the airbags would normally be on a modern truck, and the heavy duty leaf springs on this 25 tonne capacity truck, which I imagine would be similar on your 1970's vintage Freightliner. HTH, Steve
  6. I'm doing just that Phil, And I'm using a stud finder too. Works really well for me, but whenever my Wife points it towards me it stops beeping for some reason! It's now 9 shots to a panel, done in a minute; whereas it had been individual nails all hammered in and then nail-punched with the surrounding divot needing to be sanded down... So much easier.
  7. Not model related, but... Ryobi electric nail gun! Don't know how I managed without one, it's making life so much easier for panelling the hallway.
  8. Maybe it got taken for Spam? Happy birthday Martin!
  9. That entirely depends on whether you're being compared to the next man who comes along! Speaking of which... A direct size comparison between a 1/35 scale figure on the left, and the 1/32 H.J. Marseille figure from the Hasegawa '109F kit. And as is often the case, it's much bigger when you take the head into consideration! Speaking of that Bf109 kit... The difference between 1/32 and 1/35 sizes is almost an inch, at 2.4 centimetres. S
  10. Yes that's fine Jeff, click away... I just noticed that the bracing above the axle is different on the new truck as opposed to the Trident. it may be a Superliner, they don't make the Anthem here yet. The bracing might have something to do with the duty the trucks undertake; I know they're not allowed to do interstate line haul with our Trident, something to do with the way it's registered or engine capacity. It only has an MP8 fitted. S
  11. Most likely... There will either be airbags in your kit or not. They sit between the axles and the chassis if they're used. Some more chassis shots... Compressed airbag on a Mack Trident Which looks like this on the road. Note the lower rear guard as the whole rear of the chassis droops over the back axle. Same Mack Trident Conventional chassis viewed from the rear lights. The brace atop the axle goes the opposite way, as this is an Australian built truck and as such does tighter left turns. Compare this with brand new Mack chassis, halfway down the production line. You get a better view of the wiring as there's no Fifth wheel. More as I'm able, S
  12. It looks a little out of alignment... But the barrel extending from the wing is straight, which is more important. The internal wheel bay details will hardly be seen. S
  13. Well today I am working, only wearing a mask and gloves all day (face masks aren't compulsory here although frequently worn), although I have been wearing gloves since March. Yesterday, I was sneezed upon at a delivery address, and felt the droplets hit my face and neck... The man was holding the gate open as his son and I were carrying a large box through their courtyard, and let me have it just as I was passing by him. I resisted the overwhelming urge to let him have it right back. So I've recorded their details, advised my Employer, and am taking precautions at work to ensure that if I become sick or test positive for Covid 19, I can say with confidence that I've had no contact with others so that the Business can continue to operate. Then I have the weekend to get tested should I start to show symptoms; as it's been less that 24 hours I'm unlikely to be contagious at this point. I saw this the other day, and immediately thought of you Nick... S
  14. Thank you, that's so much better... Sometimes, the only thing that makes sense is the Tunnel scene from "Men in Bla-" Er, I mean "Male persons in the opposite of Whi-" Um, "Two non-binary and Gender fluid Individuals who don't see colour..." Actually, scratch that... nothing makes sense anymore. S
  15. Nah, I'm not buying that... If that's a dingo, it should be upside down not sideways!
  16. Hey Harv... I don't have access to 3D tech but FWIW, Aires have this as part of their #2020 set for the '190 D kit. You would need to cut the back wall from the kit part as the shrouds are moulded on, but at least I can confirm that it lines up with the holes in the wing leading edge (at least in my sample it does). HTH, S
  17. Thanks Jeff, Although it was our Kenworth and not the Mack. This is the rear fuel tank on the right side, the front tank has the two holes but they are both plugged. Note the baffle that comes down from the chassis in front of the fuel cocks on the bottom of the tank, protecting the lines from damage as you described above. More shots as I can get them... S
  18. Agree with Rob, The '66 looks a little dark on the seat I'm isolation, but is spot-on in the other shots. It may just be the angle of the lighting. Later in the war the '66 could turn a little green due to the addition of Zinc Chromate, but it never had a blue tint. S
  19. This is our Kenworth Conventional Cab, looking forward from the tail-lights... The basic chassis is prepared and drilled before painting, then is assembled down the line. After this, the bushes and airbags are masked off, and everything gets a once-over in the chassis colour. Note the silver washer on the sway bar, which at some point has been replaced. All of the electric and hydraulic lines are kept inside the chassis cavity, nothing on the outside to get snagged. I will see if I can get some shots of our Line Haul Freightliner Cabover when it gets in later. S
  20. Anyone experiencing a blue Sun? The size of the dust particles we get here whenever there's a dust storm out of the Red Centre refracts the light in such a way the Sun turns blue. It's quite a sight. S
  21. Lucky... Following mine around the Supermarket. Still, the drizzly weather means no mowing or car washing this afternoon, so I might get some bench time! S
  22. Well as you can see, the 20mm gun would fit the larger pod, but not the other way 'round. I cannot find that these were ever tested on the FW190, but then again who's to say they weren't either? S
  23. Yes, but... The shell chutes always go to the inside, as the opposite side opens up almost completely in a clam-shell style to allow access to the gun or ammunition. MG 151 in a 20mm pod... And MG 151 in a 30mm pod. Note the more bulbous and wider stance to enable the fitment of the 30mm MK 103 and MK 108 guns inside. What guns are you going with?
  24. Erm, I'm seeing a Lake at this end Harv... Must be a Mirage?
