  1. Brilliant as always, Ralph. Nothing lifts me out of a "modeling slump" faster than looking at photos of your work. Regards, Ed
  2. I've never seen an injection molded seat AND belts look so convincing. I may succumb.
  3. Well, I'm envious...and for too many reasons to list. But do allow me one screaming/gushing fanboy moment...YOU HAVE A MARKUS CHAIR!! How do you like it? I've been thinking about driving up to St. Louis to the Ikea store and giving it a "test sit" but would love to hear your thoughts on it. Dimensionally, I think it would be a perfect fit in my 44" wide workshop. Regards, Ed
  4. Schatton-Modellbau is the best! I used their 37mm underwing cannons on a Ju-87G I built a few years ago...really, really superb. Their Panzerschreck gear looks equally amazing.
  5. Beautifully done! (I'll just tell myself the horse is having a lie down).
  6. Hi Gus, I have always just poured it in the airbrush cup and fired away at 18-20 psi. I know some thin it, with everything from Windex to Gunze Levelling thinner, but I always thought spraying thinner-laced Future over acrylics was a recipe for disaster. Being something of a coward, I have never thinned it. It always seems to level well on it's own. The method that works (for me) is spraying a few light misting coats, allowing a bit of time to dry between each coat....then a wetter, heavier coat atop that. You can also mix Tamiya flat (X-21) at varying ratios with the future for a nice, durable matt/flat/semi-gloss coat, depending on the ratio. I generally find 1 part flat to 3 parts Future gives a nice sheen, but experiment first...it varies for me from one project to the next. AND...clean your airbrush ASAP after shooting the Future. It cleans up very well with alcohol; some use ammonia-based cleaners but I've been told that over time that can wreak havoc inside the airbrush, and even strip the chrome finish. Let me know how it goes if you give it a whirl. Regards, Ed
  7. Hi Gus, In theory, since it is acrylic gloss over acrylic paint there should be no problem. I have never actually used Humbrol gloss, however. Tamiya gloss from the can would certainly be a safe bet. You mentioned not wanting to airbrush the gloss finish, but have you considered trying "Future" floor wax straight from the bottle (I think it's sold as "Pledge Multi-Surface Wax" over there?) I've used it for years to gloss coat and have never had a problem. Regards, Ed
  8. Nicely done! You've nailed the weathering!
  9. Beautifully done, Bevan! That is some amazing airbrush control and talent you exhibit there. Makes me feel as if I took the easy way out when I did mine up in Rudi Sinner's "barber pole" camo.
  10. Stunning work...and excellent photography as well!! Regards, Ed
  11. Beautiful work Ralph! The painting, weathering, and chipping are first rate and very convincing!!
  12. I second James' assessment. Perfection all around. Amazing paint and detail work...right down to the insulator on the aerial. I would be hard pressed to say I have ever seen one better!
  13. Nice job on the floors! The Carpet Monster is banished! He exists you know. I've seen him.
  14. I discovered just how dangerous a hobby it is Sunday night when I inadvertently sucked Tamiya cement through my Touch-N-Flow applicator into my mouth. Indescribably vile flavor! I'm not too worried about being targeted as a sex slave, as they would have to be REALLY desperate.
  15. Just stunning! I actually thought the first photo was a 1:1 walk-around shot! I look forward to seeing more of your masterpieces!! Regards, Ed
  16. Very nice, Johann! Excellent fading and chipping, and you have captured the "Nakajima Green" perfectly! Regards, Ed
  17. I have to get on board the "That's The Best I've Yet Seen" train. Just perfect!
  18. Hey Doug! Beautiful builds, and I'd give anything to have natural light in my workshop like you do! Great set-up! I look forward to seeing more of your work! Regards, Ed
  19. Thanks Rick! Had I been flying one of these, I suspect the most difficult part would have been waiting for those bolted-together Daimlers to overheat and catch fire! As problematic kits go, this one was pretty tame. I'd like to build another, building on the lessons learned from this one. But I will certainly be purchasing an after-market set of decals!
  20. Brilliant! Can't wait to try this!
  21. Thanks Repeater! I was pleased with the way the camo turned out. There is a kit of the 177 in 1/48 by MPM. I have one in my stash, but given the size of it I have no idea where I would put it if I built it.
