  1. Customer decided to do both wings up, originally, he wanted one up, one down. Thankfully he chose up.
  2. Thank you for the potential offer! They work best on semi or gloss surfaces, i used them on my Corsair, ir won my first and only Gold in a show.
  3. Normally I don’t, but as I am out of work, I need something to support my habit. I have already decided that I will limit my new commissions to projects I want to work on.
  4. Incredible work! I started the same kit last year, but made little progress after a little bit of paint.i will be watching with great interest.
  5. So my luck strikes again. I figured the HGW wet transfers I ordered from Australia were either lost of seriously delayed. I had talked to BNA And decided not to get a refund, but i would wait for them to eventually show up. Yesterday marked 100 days on order, and as BNA seems to be the only stocking retailer in the world to carry these, late last night I ordered another set tracked and expedited. I would call today and ask them to refund the original set I ordered. Guess what showed up today!? When I went to my email, I saw that they had shipped the new set and sent a tracking number, so no cancelling those either. So, I guess I better get building some mustangs, I now have enough HGW transfers for four.
  6. Great engine! I avoid detailing up engines, because once you start, you can keep adding stuff until you die. I had to cut myself off after a couple of weeks because I kept finding detail to add.
  7. I thought the same thing, it wasn’t until I realized it was on a paper towel that it wasn’t 1:1.
  8. I have the new Panzer 1a, the detail in that kit is incredible, on another level i have not seen on 1/35. Panzer 1b’s are coming soon from Takom. And you can get the 38t in 1/16 too. I have a feeling that as the population of modelers get older, the scales get bigger. So hopefully, we will see more examples in this scale.
  9. I’m struggling with this plane. One thing I’ve discovered, I am not taking any more commissions for old models that spent years in attics. So far I have had to sand, heat, and bend the wing, now the outer wings are warped also, so I have them clamped to flat piece of metal while the glue is drying. The plastic is extremely brittle, small pieces are cracking as I cut them off the sprues, and the plastic is hard to sand too. But, I will finish this kit and in the future, I will insist on newer kits, and in a larger scale that is easier to work. I also had to make spacers to bring up the center of the wing while having to sand plastic to let the sides go farther down. I tried heating with flame, but the plastic started to melt before I could bend the wing enough. So I used pieces of sprue as spacers in the middle.
  10. The owner is not going to want to purchase any, so my option is to scratch build them, I still need to do it. Not sure how I should go about doing it.
  11. https://www.tamiyausa.com/shop/132-aircraft/north-american-p-51dk-mustang/ Get em quick boys! Normal price is about $150 shipped, as soon as I saw this, I pounced on it. Came out to $99 shipped.
  12. Post some progress pics on the “Non-LSP” area. There is no shame n building other scales...well maybe a little, but that’s OK...I think?
  13. Completed pics. No AM with the exception of very old decals that fought me like nothing has ever fought me before. MRP paint throughout, Light Ghost Grey fuselage with a few shades lighter mix with white for weathering, and finally, a little bit of Gunze and Vallejo paint for details. Below is where this build thread started"......"............... I am building this for someone, so don’t shoot me for it being non-LSM! This is an old 1988 issue kit that was actually purchased in Japan by the owner, we talked a bit about the schemes, he originally wanted the box art plane, but the kit decals are very yellowed, and probably brittle. The plastic in the kit is also very brittle from age/heat/attic storage. We ended up settling on a desert storm aircraft, and the rest of the build is box stock. So far I have the cockpit 90% completed, but I still have to do a little more weathering and touchup.
  14. Yes, but I had such a hard time covering with yellow, I should have sprayed white primer under. This was a true learning experience, I learned how to do real NMF, and I would never buy the plated one again. Every swirl mark from injection mounding was visible under the plating, and I had to scrape the plating off everything I glued, it would have been far easier and less time consuming to start with gray plastic and prime. As of right now, I am On hold until I get my HGW wet transfers that are stuck somewhere in the postal service between here and Australia. I have not been able to locate these anywhere in the US.
  15. Getting paint sorted out and fitting assemblies, but waiting on decals from Australia, 60 days and counting.
  16. Thanks John! I was hoping to not have to spend $25-35 to replace a tiny part.
  17. I desperately need help! Does anyone have a set of side cab inlets for the Tamiya Mustang? I specifically need to ones with holes. Hopefully someone out there has built one with the block off plates. I would appreciate a spare set if you have them...
  18. I will be following, the major challenge you will have is to get enough nose weight in there. I suggest using lead sheet under the cockpit floor, and any place you can stash it! As I remember HB says you will need 200gm, that’s nearly half a pound, and add 10% to be safe, so 9 oz total. Here is what I did, but another person did use lead sheet instead and was able to get a little more weight in there, a total of 220gm.
  19. Very nice! How did you like the Kit World decals? This is my next project, I would like to have the parts please.
  20. I actually have to say that I am a convert, The finish is so spectacular, I want to do some more NMF aircraft soon. I have some gloss black primer I want to use too. I have a partially finished P-47 I may hit with these paint, and I also have a Ki-44 Tojo that I wanted to do in a polished finish. And now that I am thinking about it, I would love to do a high polish F-104 too.
