  1. I decided to do some testing of the Xtream Metals line of paints by AK, this stuff is awesome. The claims are mostly true, the only thing I found, polished Aluminum shade does need a primer underneath, or you need about 4-5 coats to cover and color variation underneath. The spare tail from my P-51 is below, the bottom right corner is the polished aluminum, underneath, I sanded down to bare plastic with 800 grit, it did cover, but took 4 coats, as this shade is fairly transparent, but overall, I am very impressed.
  2. It’s just blue layout dye, used in machining and marking metal. Strange it’s on sheet aluminum, because it could cause cracking if you scribed a line. Maybe they just poked a dot from a template?
  3. I have to say, the plating is aluminum, so the effect is incredible, it really looks like aluminum!
  4. None, As a matter of fact, the finish is so smooth, painting over it, you get the same effect as painting over glossy black. the only issue is that when it was molded, the swirl marks in the plastic can show through the plating, like here on the gear doors.
  5. Thank you, I spent 6 hours this weekend individually hand Painting each bullet.
  6. Nothing yet, but I have a few panels I’m repainting to cover a few goofs and seams, and to add some variation.
  7. A little more assembly tonight after dinner. I still don’t have all the gear well parts weathered yet, that’s why some are bright yellow. Magnets are not installed in the cowl panels yet, but the fit so far has been perfect. The only small issue I had was my fault, the right coolant line was about 1/2 mm too short, but I was able to grip it with needle nose pliers and “stretch it a bit.
  8. Still cranking it out. I got the wings done, and fuselage closed up today, next need to join the two.
  9. Kitlinx has 5 different WingNut kits available, go get em! https://www.kitlinx.com/cgi/search.cgi?terms2=_Wingnut_Wings_ Mig/Ammo also has some. https://www.migjimenez.com/en/99-wingnut-wings
  10. Definitely a more slow paced and relaxed atmosphere. You will like it here, many of us are on both forums, but I post all my builds here.
  11. Yeah, I think I had to do 2 or 3 applications of solvaset, but I had no slivering at all. They were great.
  12. Do a 1/6 scale Sherman! Then you can give the baby rides in the turret.
  13. Hey! That is lookin good! Sort of looks familiar, I built mine out of the Revell kit.
  14. Holy crap, that’s a beautiful airplane! You need to finish it.
  15. Correct me if I’m wrong, didn’t the early B-24s paint the undersides neutral gray?
  16. Holy cow! Looking good! I have to admit I have missed a few of your updates, surprised how far you got.
  17. I now have my reference books, and all my paint Purchased and ready for the Helldiver...now I just need a Helldiver. I am hoping they offer the tri-color decal option.
  18. Agreed, it’s a cool plane, but yes...it’s ugly.
  19. I have been working on those damn Hasegawa P-40s for almost two years! They seem to need everlasting putty & sand...every time I think I get close, motivation starts to wander. Right now I have three ready to paint, but humidity is through the roof and I feel motivation slipping away. Last night I thought to myself, “I should throw them in the display cabinet Before they get too much dust” That pretty much means I’m losing motivation. But on the plus side, I am getting work done on the Mustang.
