  1. This choppa is going to be huge. From rotor tip to tail rotor, this thing is over 30” long! That’s more than a 1/32 b-17! Holy cow. I’m going to need a bigger display cabinet.
  2. Good picture, from what I could tell, there are two parts to the cover, a sun hood for the gauges, and a forward cover. Most of the pictures I found, the forward cover was removed or had fallen off, and for the sake of earning points with the judges, I will leav it off.
  3. I started with the one and only 1/35 kit, the Trumpeter Mil MI-4 Hound. My plan is to build it as 10 passenger Heli-liner, with in flight service by Aeroflot. I managed to to make all this progress in about 4 hours. Since the the back of the panel is clearly visible, I added gauge detail and lead wiring. The rotor head hear consists of nearly 40 parts!
  4. So as the Chattanooga show is just months away now, I realized that the B-24 won’t be ready. I thought about what to bring, and an idea that had been percolating for months finally came to surface. i had fell in love with this big ugly old bastard, I originally thought about building it as Polish SR helo, but then I saw this postcard ant it sealed the deal. Come fly the air transport that is preferred by Politburo elite!
  5. you really should check out the model monkey cockpit, it would save you a lot of work. The plane looks great so far!
  6. Yes, PETG will not tear, especially not as small a part as that. If it’s a slice off a cylinder, then it might be a good start to use some large styrene rod.
  7. Only slightly, best is to make a piece to fit exaclty, then sand a “smidge” off, giving it a slight loose fit.
  8. Yes, there is a specific plastic, I have some in different thicknesses for my project. It’s called PETG, they use it for RC car bodies. I ordered some to experiment with, .020, .030, and .060 to use with my old Mattel Vac-u-former. If you make a buck of the shape you need, I can try to pull a couple parts for you.
  9. There is book on the Bardahl, maybe it can help you. Also, I wonder if these other Bardahl Specials are related?
  10. So as the Chattanooga shows is looming closer, my B-24 build is struggling to get airborne...turretless. I am planning on some backup models to enter the show. I obviously have a few P-40’s I could finish and enter, but I want to build a civilian Mil-4A Hound in a heavily weathered and greasy Aeroflot scheme. Either the yellow/white or Duckegg/white paint. However, I have not been able to find a single picture of the helicopter interior. The best I found was a military style central bench, yet I can find tons of pictures of the outside. Does anyone have any idea what the interior looked like on these birds?
  11. I had problems all week, seems to be working today.
  12. are you trying to apply logic to the government?
  13. white is easy, the trick is to use a white primer under it, then spray a lacquer. Tough as nails.
  14. its all in the wording, three tenths of a PENNY!
  15. Ernie, I have used both Testors Dullcoat and Vallejo semi or matte varnish, both worked well with enamels and oils, but I think the dull coat soaks up a little enamel (or oil), so you can’t undo something completely. I have also used oils directly on acrylic paint, but that’s risky, as there is no do-over.
  16. Sadly, the only one I really want is the triplane, but it would cost more shipped than I can buy it in the US.
  17. I have not watched it yet, but if you watch his video, I think he explains how he does it.
  18. Martin, I was getting ready to start scribing panel lines and riveting, where did you find the panel line and rivet diagrams you have here?
  19. Awesome build! Check out the build Phil Flory did on a Tamiya F-16, he did his in the takeoff configuration too. Specifically check out his partially retracted landing gear.
  20. Now this is totally cool!
  21. I'm sure they will come out just as I finish mine. The turrets I am working on will retain the shape, but will have seams in all the right palces, and have internal framework, as well as re-worked interior. However, I may just make the Vac transparencies if there really is a nice set of resin turrets coming out. So far I am the AM's best customer for the B-24. I bought the Resin wheels, radios, oxygen bottles, and guns. I also bought a few sets of DN masks, Airscale panel, and I probably bought every B-24 book published! Nige, any hint of how long we are looking for them? 1 month, 6, a year? I am itching to give someone more money for a good turret.
  22. Cool, what techniques did you use?
  23. Actually, according to my Local IPMS, try Read (Reed?) Hotel, they still have rooms, and two blocks away.
  24. Just keep in mind, Chattanooga is not a big town! There are a couple good restaurants. I have been the the Urban Stack is a good Burger and Whiskey place. https://urbanstack.com/ Southern Star is a little more of a down-home cooking (meat & 3) place. http://www.southernstarrestaurant.com/ City Cafe is a good breakfast place, but may be a bit crowded during conventions. https://citycafemenu.com/
