  1. I have been faithfully gluing, hacking, and sanding for weeks, getting close to painting the insides. Hopefully I will have the colors picked out this week.
  2. Great work! Its refreshing to see one of these that is not blue.
  3. Gary, Im glad you shared this here! I saw it on Facebook and was going to try and share it here. You proved that this unbuildable kit, was indeed, buildable! Fantastic work!
  4. I'm already considering my options, looking through my stash, its going to be hard to decide: HK 1/32 Mossie Mk.IV, DZ637/AZ-X, No.627 Sqn, Woodhall Spa, Summer 1944 w/invasion stripes Revell/Lodela 1/32 Bristol Beaufighter TF.X "thimble nose" w/invasion stripes Tamiya 1/35 U.S. 2.5 Ton 6X6 Cargo Truck Special Hobby 1/32 Hawker Tempest Mk.V, 3 Sqn. 5. I’m in, as for a rule, how about any Allied or German aircraft, vehicle, or ship in the European Theater after June 6, 1944? So, no Eastern Front, no Africa, no Pacific theater.
  6. Harv, I have an assignment for you...
  7. Lol, more like 1/7 th scale right now.
  8. Aloha! Have a good time! I got Married in Hawaii myself, been back once, planning another trip this winter. Enjoy your time there, relax!
  9. Does it come with a complimentary bottle of Pepcid and Tylenol?
  10. How about expanding it from FW-190 to WW2 Air Superiority Fighters? So just guns, no bombs, single or twin, anything that was truly a fighter, this opens it up to every nation.
  11. This is a Tamiya, but still inspiration for your build.
  12. Don't be discouraged, long thin parts are the hardest to cast, pros either inject, or use pressure pots.
  13. another way to try is to split the mold in half along the blade edges like the picture above then cut a small channel from the tip to the end, get a large syringe, then inject the resin. from the bottom up.
  14. that would be a really hard one to cast in a one piece mold, you might need to lay it flat in a clamshell mold, see below.
  15. They have it at HL, but I bought mine through Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/Crafters-Companion-A20501-Products-Alumilite/dp/B004BNA6VA/ref=sr_1_3?crid=S2LBZ93UTZI9&keywords=rtv+mold+making+silicone&qid=1556540653&s=gateway&sprefix=Rtv+mold%2Caps%2C155&sr=8-3
  16. I suggest an easy and quick way is picking up alumalite and rtv. They sell it at Hobby Lobby, or you can order it from Amazon.
  17. I have that kit, looks really nice from what I have seen.
  18. This is definitely on my must have list, now if I could just get Airfix to finally release the kit!
  19. Here are a few options to try if you want to paint, I would if it were me... 1. Apply the decals to either vinyl or Kabuki mask, then cut out the letters, use clear frisket paper to transfer them, or, 2. paint the tail gray, apply the tape, then the decal, the very gently cut out the mask in place.
  20. It took me several tries, but I think I figured out how to get the windows and interiors to look like a commie-mercial aircraft. I need to open up the windows, and create the thickness of my he interior, while ending up with a smooth interior surface. Simply sanding off the ribs will not have enough thickness, so I added spacing plastic between the ribs that will be covered with another thinner sheet inside, then another layer of plastic strip in the window openings, finally a clear sheet will be installed flush on the outside, the edges filled, then the openings will be masked so it looks like the glass is flush with the skin. I finally figure that strip strip stock would be more consistent than sanding the shape. Spacing plastic, allows me to glue another thin layer inside. First attempt at at the window using pencil marks and sanding sticks, OK, but not perfect. Imside of rear door. Testing the theory, A small piece of clear in the opening sits flush, now I can cut larger pieces and glue them in.
  21. i would paint them. I used to have an Alps printer for making decals, but it has been gone for 13 years now, they worked good for cars, but the decals were so thick.
  22. I gave up on the bearcat, it was given to me, but so heavily modified that I would have to buy $45 worth of sprues to resurrect it. I would rather someone who could use the parts instead, so the "Pay it forward" has been fulfilled.
