  1. December 26, 2017 I had just sprayed the Linen color and applied decals to the fuselage, IP, and floor. That was my first attempt at decal woodgrain instead of painting it. I finally broke out the colors and did a bunch of airbrushing this week. I did not fill any seams in the tanks and boxes, because of the whole fuel tank, only the two filler caps can be seen, and only the feed chutes from the ammo box can be seen with the cockpit buttoned up.
  2. This was my second Wingnut kit I started, i started this almost a year and a half ago on “another” forum. This was going to be a mostly OOB build using Master brass barrels for the machine guns and Aviattic Lozenge decals. It started well, bus as I always hate doing decals, the progress “stalled” when I got to the wings with their miles of decals. I am so close to finishing, I figured I would try to finish this up before Chattanooga. My choice of schemes will be the yellow nosed bird.
  3. Looking great! I am now itching to start my Polish Hind.
  4. I for one, am extremely thrilled to have one polish plane. My father served in both Poland and England during WW2.
  5. I think i went a little too dirty on the cockpit, i'm too used to doing military aircraft. Too late to turn back now, now on to the passenger cabin windows.
  6. John, i can’t really tell prom your pic, but, before you paint, don’t forget you need to fill the rear canopy lines.
  7. They should be safe, make a test with scrap plastic. I stripped my Tamiya Corsair with it. It turned out OK, I won the only Gold ever on this plane.
  8. Good choice of build, here is another "IN THE MOOD"
  9. So, I decided to respond to what I just got, and I realized I may have a problem. This is the last two weeks... 2FCE62DF-49F7-44A0-9E61-C418FD13A543.jp2 781D18C2-1D22-44A6-A49D-C4BB23020D89.jp2
  10. Don’t forget that high society and high party officials drank Cognac and Brandys, as Vodka was considered ”middle class”! However, I will have all three and well as a bottle of wine.
  11. Yes, I actually did paint a pattern and border that simulates airline style carpet, It’s hard to see in photos, but I painted it using three different blue colors, that match the interior. Typically, these civilian transports varied from painted floors, to crude carpet, to fine furnishings for high level Communist officials, I took a little liberty with this one as I was basing it on the premise that it would be some very high level communist party members flying in it.
  12. A .30 cal barrel in 1/32 is .009375 internally, a 1/48 .50 internally is .010416. A .30 cal in 1/35, it’s .008576. 1/32 is pretty close, other than the barrel design, it would be hard to tell.
  13. As of now, I am still deciding between three schemes for paint, but I am leaning toward the white and blue schemes.
  14. I am finally at the stage where fabrication work is coming to an end. I had to build bulkheads and ducting for the engine bay as it was just all open, I built the full interior (13 seats, 2 tray tables, side walls, new window openings, cabin roof, bulkheads, and of course, vodka bottle holder. Added wiring detail to the very visible IP. I plan to paint the wiring off-white/tan. After realizing the engine can can barely be seen, I left the detail at just paintwork, the area behind the fan is slightly more visible, so I built firewalls, bulkheads, and some misc “busy” details. I am actually glad, because to fix this would have required a whole other engine sprue, as it is missing a whole row of cylinders between the engine and fan. and the bay was open to the interior and cockpit. I fabricated a firewall to go between the cockpit and fan, and built a whole new forward bulkhead for the passenger cabin, as the one with a door was pure trumpeter fantasy. also, there was a fair amount of panels and ducting behind the fan, but I just built some basic stuff since you cant see any of it. And of course, what would a Russian passenger hello be without a Vodka rack? This is actually the third design I settled on, it will be a wall hanging “self serve” type for Boris to help himself. It’s still rough, needs to be trimmed and painted. The glasses will hang underneath. The two wall mounted tray tables are laying upside down. I also bought some white decal paper so I can make my own vodka and cognac labels
  15. Small update, will post pictures later. Have most of the engine, engine bay, interior, and cockpit painted. There are not a lot of parts left on the sprues anymore. Hoping to close up the fuselage next week, Paint will hopefully go fast.
  16. check them out on the "other" site, https://forum.largescaleplanes.com/index.php?/topic/73442-resin-tail-for-revell-p-51d-pictures-and-review/&tab=comments#comment-1013753
  17. John, I have three resin Late P-51D (with fillet) tails in my stash, send me your address, I will send you one.
  18. Its good to get away. Are you at the WIldcatter Steakhouse in these pics?
  19. Yes, it is quite literally a shelf in my stash closet with all 7 of them lined up, awaiting my motivation. I sometimes hear them calling me from the closet, begging for paint.
  20. I'm going to be digging these off the SOD soon. Some of these guys are almost ready for paint. Need to sort them out and get cracking...
